Pennywise is packaged in a window box that has artwork inspired from the film, including an image of Georgie on the front, images of Pennywise on the sides and back.
It Chapter 2 is one of this years most iconic movies for horror goers, and the current top movie in the box office bringing in over $1 billion worldwide. This figure from NECA Toys is inspired by the 2017 film, and offers a much more film accurate release given his larger size and additional detail and deco. Pennywise stands at 20″ tall without holding the balloon, and based on the likeness of actor Bill Skarsgård. His head sculpt includes much more detail on the forehead including the cracks, which are grooves in the sculpt with grey deco to bring it out in the white facial paint. The facial details are spot on accurate to the film and actor, with the dark red/brown deco on the lips, nose and lines coming from the lips going up over the eyes. The teeth include the two long adult teeth and shorter one’s on the sides, and are painted in beige. The eyes are orange with black pupils. The hair is painted in orange with a lighter wash over it, and have textures and sculpted waves in the hair.
The outfit is an old fashioned circus clown outfit that looks like something from the Victorian era, and is painted in grey, with metallic wash over over it, and well as a dark wash that makes it look dirty. The outfit also includes red and white trim on the edges that look like hand stitching, and is much more noticeable given his larger size. The stitching also has these smaller balls on the wrists and above the ankles, which are made of plastic and also given textures and nicely done details. There are also red balls on the shirt and tips of the boots. The clothing is nicely sculpted and detailed with realistic folds and textures throughout the outfit, which also matches what he looked like in the movie. Part of the outfit is also made of a soft plastic, such as the area around his waist, collar piece, wrists, and ankles. Both of his hands are painted in white and are made of a softer plastic, with the left one being interchangeable with the hand that holds the red balloon.
Besides the left hand, the red balloon is the only other accessories included, which is made of a hard plastic, and a wire string that is cannot be bent. The red balloon looks a bit smaller than it does in the film, and that was likely done so it could fit in the box without a more expensive price point being added. As you can see, this version of Pennywise stands around 13″ taller than the Ultimate versions, and has a much more accurate film likeness and facial details as we’ve mentioned. While the balloon for the 7″ scale offerings are around the size they need to be for film accuracy, the 1/4″ scale version also looks great with it and you can bet this clown will be the centerpiece of the Pennywise collection (unless you buy the Life-Size edition).
Overall, Pennywise is a great offering and one of the most detailed figures in the collection. The attention to detail and deco really brings out the horrific vide of the character and this release almost comes to life. This is definitely worth picking up and we recommend displaying with the balloon in his hand. Just make sure he’s balanced right with something to help hold him us as the last thing you want is for him to fall over.
