The Lasershot Predator is packaged in a window box with an opening flap, with artwork inspired by the vintage Kenner figure’s blister card on the front, and on the back are images of the figure, a bio, and figure instructions.
Lasershot Predator is inspired by the 1990’s Kenner figure and has been given a modern day update, which is also one of the most detailed and more functions on a Predator figure that we’ve seen. The figure is mostly covered in hold armor that also has a wash over it, with metallic copper parts in the gold, and stands out nicely as the armor has a nice shine to it. The armor is packed with sculpted details, includes blades on the sides of his legs, a skeletal face on the belt with red eyes, and a harness that includes a cannon that can be raised up over the shoulders and placed downward to point at his prey.
The assault cannon on his back features two different grappling hooks that attaches to it, along with a bendable wire extended piece that the grappling hooks can also be connected too. The attachments are all painted in a shiny metallic finish with nicely done sculpted details.
The Lasershot Predator also includes a detachable wrist shield that replaces the gauntlet on his right arm. The shield is made of a translucent purple plastic, with the gold armor and red ruby at the center, and his left hand has an interchangeable claw that features articulated fingers. Each of the fingers are hinged, and the wrist joint is on a swivel-hinge point of articulation. Replacing the claw with the existing left hand was a bit of a challenge as the peg inside the hand wasn’t easy to pull apart, and then insert it into the claw. So you may want to loosen up the hole inside the claw that the peg inserts into with a blow dryer or hot water, and that should help it just slide right in.
His head sculpt is nicely done and he has the LED targeting eye feature that is activated by pressing the button on top of his head. The right side of his face has the technology covering it, which also almost makes him look like a borg drone. This piece has the same gold and copper deco, with red deco on top of his head. His hair goes down from the back and sides, and the facial details such as the left eye and mouth are exceptional. A mask is also included that is mostly copper, with gold on the forehead, and the LED feature works through the eye hole as well. For display, it may be wise to keep the mask off only because the head sculpt is too awesome to cover up. His skin tone is also nicely done with several shades of purple, and the sculpted fish-net textures also look great.
Lasershot Predator also has a swappable right hand, so he can be open handed or closed fisted. His articulation is standard for modern Predator figures, which includes a ball jointed head, ball jointed shoulders, swivel biceps, swivel-hinged elbows, ball jointed torso, swivel-hinged wrists, ball jointed hips, double-hinged knees and ball jointed ankles.
Overall, the Lasershot Predator features an excellent figure sculpt with a superior deco that has a great likeness to the classic Kenner design. The sculpted and paint applications on him are are excellent, and this is one that you won’t want to miss. We especially like the LED feature, grappling hook attachments, claw and shield accessories that really makes him stand out on your Predator toy shelf.
