Disney Store Exclusive Marvel Toy Box Venom Figure Review

The Disney Store is expanding the Marvel Toy Box collection line with Venom, which is available now for $12.95. Venom makes a new milestone for Disney Stores Toy Box line and also the first Spider-Man classic villain to be offered in this line. We’ve seen a lot of great characters in the Toy Box line during the past three years, and there are still some more to go, and if you are familiar with the game, you should have an idea at this point what we could see offered in this line, along with possibly some characters that were not in the game. However, Disney Store doesn’t give fans a look in advance at what’s coming and its been a surprise each month when new figures and vehicles drop on their store. In that regard, this is an unusual line and a way to offer action figures, but it works for them and we say bring us more characters!

Disney Infinity was Disney’s version of LEGO Dimensions, where franchises collide and characters can interact. These figures are loosely based on this game, and have been re-engineered and articulated to resemble the game’s likeness.

Thank you to Disney and the Disney Store for providing their Marvel Toy Box Venom figure for review.

Availability: January 2020

Venom is packaged in the standard Toy Box blister card, with an image of him on the side, and pictures of Captain Marvel, Wolverine, and Spider-Man on the back. Venom is #21 of the Marvel Toy Box collection.

Venom makes his debut in this line and is a character best known among fans in Marvel Comics, and to the general public in his 2018 film. Venom has been one of our personal most wanted characters in this line and he’s definitely has been worth the wait. In the game, Venom can use his super strength, tentacles, and web bolts, and is seen in Disney Infinity 2.0 and 3.0.

The figure features a great sculpt showcasing his shiny black symbol suit, with a metallic wash on the back and white Spider symbol on his chest and back. The sculpt is big and bulky just like Hulk’s, especially in the torso, arms, hands and head. Most of the figure is black, as it should be, and they did an excellent job on the white spider symbol as there is very minor to no bleeding over into the black.

Venom includes a detachable tentacle that clips on the right forearm, and there is a plug on that forearm that goes into the tentacle so it will help to secure it in place. The tentacles are made of a soft plastic, and can hold a figure but cannot wrap around him.

venom comes with two head sculpts, one with the symbiot head, and the other showing Eddie Brock’s head inside Venom’s mouth. The symbiot head includes a red tongue sticking out and the pink inside of his mouth, big white eyes, shark white teeth, and that big open mouth comic fans all know and love. The Eddie Brock head is shown as the symbiot head opens up and allows you to see the host underneath, and Eddie’s head has some of the black symbiot organism on the left side of his face and forehead.

Venom’s articulation includes. swivel neck (the heads are easily swappable by pulling it off), ball hinged shoulders, swivel-hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, swivel waist, swivel-hinged hips, swivel-hinged knees, and swivel-hinged ankles.

Overall, Venom is one great figure and every Marvel collector out there should be buying this line. Not only is he given one of the best looking sculpts, but he also has a great likeness to the game for the most part and quite honestly, we are just so happy to have a new villain in the Marvel Toy Box line. Venom  is available now at the Disney Store for $12.95, and we recommend picking him up soon before he sells out.
