It’s an exciting time for Turtles toys, especially for the original films, arcade and animated television series that NECA is basing their line on since 2016. This set is a historic release as it gives you the first-ever 7″ scale Casey Jones and Raphael in Disguise figures that everyone should own. Casey Jones and Raphael in Disguise are packaged in a window with artwork that is similar to other offerings in this line, including the image of the turtles lifting up the sewer lid on the bottom of the front. The sides show images of Casey Jones and Raphael, and the back has figure images of Casey and Raphael, a brief description, and images of the four turtles.
Casey Jones is making his debut as a 7″ scale action figure and he’s one of the most anticipated characters that fans have been waiting for. As most you of should be aware, the mask is no removable, and this is because Elias Koteas, who played Casey back in the 1990 movie, did not want his likeness in this line. The rumor has it that he changed his mind since then, and NECA apparently has a head sculpt ready to go in case that happened.
Casey Jones is excellent, and well worth the wait. The figure comes as he was shown in the film, with his dark grey vest that is made of soft plastic, a dirty white shirt with some great paint washes, grey pants, leather looking gloves with a sculpted texture, black shoes and white socks. The clothing includes wrinkles and paint washes to make it look warn, and around his torso you can place the golf bag to hold all of the accessories/sports equipment he uses against the Foot. The mask looks great, and is done in a light metallic grey, with his eyes poking through, so at least you can see a little bit of his face. The straps go around the back of his head and over his hair, and the hair is long and black and sculpted.
Casey Jones comes with four sets of swap out hands, a hockey stick, a goalie stick, a golf club, a baseball bat, and a bag to carry the weapons. The figure is also fully articulated with double jointed elbows, ball jointed head and more that we showcased in the video.
Raphael comes in his iconic trench coat and hat, as he intends to blend in with humans and hide in plain sight. The trench coat is made of fabric, and includes pockets, buttons, and a backpack on his back. The backpack shouldn’t be removed as the straps might break, and we also recommend not taking off the trench coat to keep from breakage. The figure itself is a reused sculpt from the previous Raphael figure offering, and underneath the trench coat you see his body, the holsters for the sais, turtle shell and more.
His hat is also tricky to get on, as we specified that in the video. It works best by allowing it to rest on his head, and use with the bandana that rests on both shoulders. The other two bandana’s can be positioned upward on either side of the back of his head. The head sculpt itself is also reused from the previous offering, with the bandana given a metallic finish.
Included with Raphael includes two sais, a pizza slice, three sets of swap out hands, and a baseball bat.
Overall, what a great set and I for one am so thrilled to have Casey Jones in this line. It’s a character that has been on everyone’s wishlist, so make sure to grab the set now while you can. Raphael is a great looking figure as well and the trench coat came out great. The likeness on both of these figures are spot on and you will definitely love it.
