Marvel in the 1990’s was the best decade for the brand in my personal opinion, with some unique and very compelling X-Men storylines such as Days of Future Past, Age of Apocalypse, and of course Jim Lee breaking boundary’s in 1991 when he launched X-Men #1. Let’s not forget that X-Men 1992 animated series that many of us reading this right now grew up watching. It was a great time to be a fan and these stories remain timeless in the hearts and souls of the fanbase.
In X-Men: Age Of Apocalypse, Jean Grey was one of the first members of the X-Men under Magneto’s team of mutants. King’s attacks. She eventually falls in love with fellow student, Weapon X. Jean is later kidnapped by Mr. Sinister, who offers her a place among his team. Sinister would eventually take Jean’s DNA, combine it with Scott’s, and create Nate Grey, a mutant powerful enough to challenge Apocalypse himself.
X-Men: Age of Apocalypse has had some figures in the past from Toybiz in the 1990’s, Toybiz Marvel Legends, and even Hasbro offered AOA Sunfire as a HTS exclusive. Jumping ahead, this storyline is finally getting the recognition it deserves and we have a full wave of figures to check out, including a Sugar Man Build-A-Figure joining the line. It’s a good time to be a fan again and 90’s Marvel lives on again in toy form!

Jean Grey is packaged in the standard single carded packaging with artwork and logo’s on the front, sides, and on the back is an image of the figure, a brief bio, and images of the rest of the wave, including Sugar Man.
Jean Grey joins the Age of Apocalypse line by Hasbro and is surely one figure that you don’t want to miss out on given his popularity in the comics, especially back in the mid-1990’s. Jean Grey comes in her dark blue, light blue, and red outfit, with nicely done crisp lines between the three colors. The outfit looks really sharp and they captured it really nicely. Her shoulder pads block some of her arm articulation, as she cannot lift her arms up because of it, but can go out the sides and then be lifted. Her head sculpt is really well done and has the tattoo on her left side, with nicely done facial details and sculpted hair.
Jean Grey comes with the face and torso of Sugar Man.
Overall, Jean Grey is a great figure that fans will absolutely will be happy with. The attention to detail and character likeness is great to the source material, so make sure to grab him and others in the wave and build that Sugar Man figure!
