NECA Toys It Chapter Two Pennywise Ultimate Figure Review

NECA Toys is offering their It Chapter Two Pennywise Ultimate Figure that is based on the second film. In our interview with Randy Falk of NECA, we learned that this just may be the last version of Pennywise from any of the films at the time being. This version is the only one based on the second film that you will see for now, which includes four new head sculpts that’s offered just for this release.

Based on Bill Skarsgård’s portrayal of the shape-shifting creature, this 7″ scale figure features an all-new body to showcase Pennywise’s costume change in the second movie. To recreate the most terrifying scenes from the film, the fully articulated figure has four interchangeable heads, plus interchangeable hands and red balloon.

Thank you to NECA Toys for providing their It Chapter Two Pennywise Ultimate Figure for review.

Availability: June 2020

Pennywise is packaged in a window box with a opening flap. The packaging includes artwork inspired from the movie poster, with an image of Pennywise on the cover, sides, and images of the figure as well as a description on the back.

Pennywise is based on his appearance in It: Chapter Two, which is the 2019 sequel. Pennywise is given some newly tooled parts, including four new head sculpts, the neck piece, and the torso, along with the reused parts that make up the rest of the body. The outfit is an old fashioned circus clown outfit that is painted in grey with a dark grey wash over it, and red trim on the edges that look like hand stitching. There are also red balls on the shirt and tips of the boots. The torso is also newly sculpted as the red balls are in different places, such as the ball is no longer on his belt. The clothing is nicely sculpted and detailed with realistic folds and textures throughout the outfit, which also matches what he looked like in the movie. This version of Pennywise has a darker grey deco than what has been released before for the 2017 film, and interestedly enough he’s also a little shorter than the previous releases. This has to do with his torso, and neck piece.

The four head sculpts are also brand new, including the one that’s on him in the packaging. These new head sculpts also have a different hair style as well as a facial expression. What stands out the most here is the Bill Skarsgård likeness that has not been done before, which is based on one of the scenes in the film. All of these new head sculpts look great, especially that smiling grin (also new from the previous offering), and the tongue sticking out.

The articulation and most of the paint applications on the body are the same as previous releases as they use the same body base. Included with Pennywise are five additional interchangeable open hands, making a total of seven with two on his wrists. This includes the red balloon holding hand with the loop through it.

Overall, Pennywise is an excellent figure and definitely worth adding to your growing collection. The amount of detail, paint applications and accessories in this figure are amazingly detailed, especially those horrific head sculpts that fans surely won’t want to miss out on. You may also want to pick up multiples of this figure given the amount of different ways to pose him and interchangeable heads and hands.
