NECA Toys Predator 2 – Ultimate Armored Lost Predator Figure Review

NECA Toys is now offering their Predator 2 – Ultimate Armored Lost Predator Figure, and joins their movie line-up. The Lost Predator is also known as the Borg Predator, was one of the Lost Tribe from the Yautja Mother Ship that appeared at the end of the film hidden beneath Los Angeles in 1997 during the events of Predator 2. The tribe revealed themselves to Detective Mike Harrigan after he defeated the City Hunter Predator in combat just outside the ship. The tribe, knowing that the victory was honorable, collected the body of the City Hunter, and presented Harrigan with a Flintlock pistol as a trophy and show of respect. After the battle, the tribe left Earth. In Predator 2, the Lost Predator is portrayed without a mask, and NECA cooked up something new interpreting what the mask would have looked like. The figure is based on the Armored Lost Predator from the Predator Series 11 wave released in 2013.

Predator 2 expanded the universe that the original film touched upon, introducing us to new yautja such as the City Hunter and more importantly, the Lost Tribe that appeared at the end of the film. 30 years after its release, NECA is celebrating Predator 2’s anniversary with the return of each Lost Tribe Predator in Ultimate form.

The Armored Lost Predator is given an upgrade with an all new body loaded with articulation, an assortment of interchangeable hands, and two heads, one of which is a masked head with a functioning red LED. Other accessories include a sword and shuriken.

Thank you to NECA Toys for providing their Predator 2 – Ultimate Armored Lost Predator Figure for review.

Availability: September 2020

The Lost Predator is packaged in a window box with beautiful looking artwork on the front, sides, and back. Also on the are images of the figure, along with a description and additional Predator figure offerings. The figure is placed in a plastic tray inside the box, with an opening flap revealing another image of the figure, and he is stored nicely along with his accessories.

The Lost Predator features a brand new sculpt with newly designed armor that is packed with great sculpting and detail. The figure features a masked head sculpt with an LED feature, meaning his eyes can light-up when pressing on the button on top of the head. The armor is painted in a dark metallic blue and black finish, and works great on the figure. This release is based on their Battle Armored Lost Predator, which re-imagines the Lost Predator in full armor, with the armor itself a softer material. This allows the articulation to be fully posable as you would expect. The armor mostly covers the top of his chest, shoulders, forearms, hips, knees and lower legs, and the sculpt includes that fishnet detail that you see with almost every Predator release. The sculpted netting is sharp, and the exposed skin areas have very different texture work compared to the armored areas.

The articulation is part of the Ultimate figure offerings, so you really get the most out of this figure. This includes double jointed elbows, knees, and all the standard Predator articulation that we’ve been covering over the years.

The three head sculpts work great for him, including the masked head with the LED light-up feature, open mouth and closed mouth heads. You can also access the tiny batteries by removing the center portion of the forehead, and there’s a small button at the top of the mask that turns the electronics on and off. To keep the batteries working, you might want to put that plastic piece that was in-between the batteries back on as you display it or even keep it in packaging.

Included with the Ultimate Lost Predator figure is a sword, and you can put the sword in the sheath on his back, and a Shuriken.

Overall, this is an excellent figure with great amount of detail, sculpting, deco, head sculpts and even fun accessories. The armor is amazingly detailed and the light-up mask is truly a great addition to the figure. This is one that you definitely should own regardless if you have the Lost Predator released from 2013 or not, or are just a casual Predator collector.
