Thank you to NECA Toys for providing their Back To The Future – Ultimate Marty McFly Audition Version Figure for review.

Availability: February/March 2021 – first sold at Wal-Mart Stores, then everywhere else.

Marty McFly is packaged in a window box with an opening flap, with artwork on the cover inspired from the Battle of the Bands, which was a competition held in the Hill Valley High School gymnasium on Friday, October 25, 1985 to determine the best band in Hill Valley. On the back, there are images of the figure, along with a brief description. The opening flap includes another image, and Marty is inside the plastic tray along with his accessories.

Marty McFly features the same sculpt previously offered, but without his 1985 inspired vest. Instead, you get the denim jacket, along with a plaid shirt, dark blue jeans, and white sneakers with red stripes on the sides and back. The outfit looks amazingly detailed, and even includes paint washes and realistic folds to me it more realistic. He also has a black watch on his left wrist, which also has a white face. His head sculpt came out great, with an excellent likeness and facial details that almost makes him look exactly as he appeared on screen, and features the likeness of actor Michael J Fox. The facial deco is also new and different, and even looks to be a new sculpt, with the exception of the hair being the same sculpt and deco as previously offered.

The figure comes with an assortment of accessories inspired from a number of scenes from the film, including a brand new sculpted guitar that is black and silver, with a red strap, a Clock Tower newspaper ad, a photograph of him, a fading away clear hand sculpt, a guitar string hand sculpt, two open hand sculpts, an alternate head sculpt, and a cassette player with headphones. The guitar is bigger than the previous offering, which also includes a strap that can be placed around his torso.

Overall, this is another great offering in NECA’s Back to the Future line, and Marty gets some new accessories not previously offered. The likenesses and great attention to detail makes this line the best offerings for the franchise to-date, and comes just in time for the 35th Anniversary of the first film. This is a great line that every BTTF fan should own.
