NECA Toys is offering their Ace Ventura: Pet Detective – Shady Acres Ace Ventura 8″ Clothed Figure that is inspired from the 1994 film. This is the second version of Ace Ventura that NECA is offering on the first film, and the figure features the likeness of Actor Jim Carrey. In the film, the aquatic mascot from the Miami Dolphins is stolen from their stadium. They call in an eccentric “Pet Detective” named Ace Ventura to investigate the disappearance of the beloved dolphin. As the investigation goes on, all signs point to disgraced former Dolphins punter Ray Finkle as the person of interest. As Ace Ventura seeks to find clues to Finkle’s motives and whereabouts, Ace Ventura goes undercover as an incoming patient to Shady Acres, a mental hospital. While there, he finds out that police lieutenant Lois Einhorn is somehow involved in the disappearance of the dolphin.

Ace Ventura is packaged in a window box, with nicely done artwork inspired from the film. The back includes images of the figure, along with a description. He comes packaged in a plastic tray along with all of his accessories.
Ace Ventura is based on the Shady Acres scenes from the film, which is when he infiltrates the mental hospital for his investigation of the missing Dolphin. Ace comes in a short sleeve button up (which is actually velcro as you can see when you open the shirt, plaid shorts, and a tutu around his waist. The shirt and shorts have a pattern that came out great, and looks just like it did in the film. The tutu is pink and is mostly hidden under the shirt, that is until you open the shirt to see the rest of it. He is also on the updated 3.0 body, which includes additional articulation and works great for him.
Ace Ventura comes with two head sculpts, both with really good likenesses and paint applications. The likenesses were sculpted and painted, rather than scanned as the 7″ Ultimate releases have, but still came out great and you clearly see the Jim Carrey likeness here. The facial details are nicely done, with both of them the sculpted and painted hair, eyes, nose, mouth and ears. Each facial expression is also different, giving you the ability to choose how you want to display him.
Ace includes Wiggles, the Yorkshire terrier, and a replica of his business card. Wiggles is also nicely sculpted and painted, and is a laying down pose.
Overall, Ace Ventura is an excellent figure and fans of Jim Carrey, Ace Ventura, and especially NECA collectors will want to pick this figure up. He is available now, and you can find him at the stores listed below:
