This figure is painted in a darker purple, black, and metallic silver with a wash of blue on the armor. Super Shredder is exclusively available at Wal-Mart in the U.S., and is available now. Shadow Master Super Shredder includes a brand-new fabric cape, 7 interchangeable hands, a bishamon yari (spear), and a TGRI mutagen canister.

Thank you to NECA Toys for providing their Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles II: The Secret of the Super Shredder figure for review.

Availability: March 2021

Shadow Master Super Shredder is packaged in a large window box with an opening flap, with with beautifully done artwork in a metallic silver and black, images of him on the front, sides and back. Super Shredder is in a plastic tray along with his accessories, and the opening flap has an image of the figure.

Shadow Master Super Shredder is part of the deluxe line, and is an oversized figure and includes a big bulky and muscular figure sculpt, and stands at 9.5″ tall making him the tallest figure in the line at the moment. Super Shredder’s sculpt has one of the most impressive designs in the line, with all those blades and attention to detail on the head sculpt. This larger size allows these details to stand out more than on a smaller figure, and that is defiantly a plus. He head is sculpted with some great attention to detail, including scars on the face, eyes looking through the mask, added ridges and blades on the helmet. The helmet also includes a face shield that is nicely done with a wash that is as detailed as the rest of the armor, which is painted to make it look worn. There are some additional details and textures here as well.

The blades on his armor are also longer than the previous 7″ scale figure, which we also saw in the film, are are made of a softer plastic, which limits the risk of breakage as you are moving the joints and swapping out the hands. The blades can be found on the shoulders, shin guards, and wrist guard.

The outfit is also nicely detailed and mostly painted in a dark purple, black, dark grey, metallic silver blades with a blue wash on them. The dark purple and black defines his muscular body in the suit, and defiantly stands out. The cape is made of fabric and is brand new.

Super Shredder includes 7 interchangeable hand sculpts (closed fisted, open grip, open grip for the canister, and open hands), a spear, and a canister of TGRI mutagen. The spear can be held in the open grip hands, there is a hand offered just for the canister, and the open hands are best to grab a turtle. The spear is also a slight repaint from the first release of the figure, including the fact that the blade has a metallic blade and below that, has a dark grey with a silver metallic finish. The first release had a wash on the blade, and below that there were also a metallic silver wash that is removed with this new release.

Even though Super Shredder had a brief appearance towards the end of the film before meeting his demise, it’s a memorable one. NECA has done an incredible job on this figure and he far exceeds expectations anyone might have had when seeing images of him online. The attention to detail, accessories and overall great likeness is incredible. The good news now is that NECA is helping to make improvements finding these figures at Wal-Mart and people are reporting their toy hauls with this new Super Shredder figure, along with the 2-packs that are also available. Hopefully, finding these figures in the future will prove to be easier in the long haul.
