A new version of Shredder is being offered and based on his appearance as seen on the Pinball machine by Stern, which is a dark metallic purple outfit and chrome helmet variant of the cartoon version. The figure is exclusively available in this crate and only available at Wal-Mart Stores here is the U.S. Shredder includes three sets of interchangeable hands, and does not include the sword that is shown.

Shredder is packaging in a window box, with artwork inspired from the Stern Pinball machines, and it seems that the artwork chosen for the box is inspired from the Pro and Premium releases. The front of the box has artwork of Shredder and Krang in his android body, along with the Turtles logo, in a New York City backdrop. The sides also have Shredder and Krang on the left, and Bebop and Rocksteady on the right. The back of the box has images of Shredder in various poses, along with logo’s and a NYC backdrop.
Shredder uses the same sculpt as previously seen with the Cartoon and Turtles in Time figure offerings, and given some new paint applications inspired from the Stern Pinball game. Shredder is given a metallic purple shirt, with a soft plastic metallic purple tunic in the front and back, a black belt, black pants and boots, a metallic slate armor, and metallic silver blades on the armor. The blades are made of soft plastic to prevent breakage issues. The cape is also purple, and different than the cartoon version that we’ve seen. The cape is cloth and is also removable.
The head sculpt is still impressive, and the new paint eyes and helmet really came out great. This particular likeness looks better than previously offered, which speaks volumes as NECA has been doing such a great job on this property.
The new deco stands out with the shine of the metallic deco, and armor. The only aspect about the figure that comes as a surprise is that he does not include a sword, but the sword that came with the cartoon Shredder figure is compatible with this one as it’s the same hand sculpts used. Shredder does come with three sets of interchangeable hands, including closed fisted, karate pose and open grip.
Overall, Shredder is a fantastic repaint and a figure that fans will surely love. This new deco truly shines and you will be very happy with this one. Make sure to keep checking Wal-Mart for availability of this crate, and once you obtain it, proudly display it with your collection.
