NECA Toys Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles In Time Baxter Stockman Figure Review

Terminate the turtles!

Baxter Stockman joins the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles In Time line-up by NECA Toys, and is based on his appearance from this classic Arcade game, which also was offered as a video game in 1992 on Super Nintendo. In the game, Baxter Stockman is the first boss the Turtles face, and the player has to dodge the lasers he fires while flying in the air, along with the energy hand, and you can attack him after he fires his shots. Hit him enough times, and he begins to glow, then a blast sends him off the roof, indicating that you have defeated him. The figure comes with an assortment of accessories, including two acrylic stands, one for the figure, and one of the energy hand.

Thank you to NECA Toys for providing their Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Turtles In Time Baxter Stockman Figure for review.

Availability: May 2021

Baxter Stockman is packaged in a window box with an opening flap, with artwork inspired from the Turtles in Time Arcade and Video Game. On the cover, is Baxter, which looks closer to how he did in the cartoon, along with the four turtles entering the portal. The sides show the turtles, the portal, and windows into different time periods. The back gives you a look at Baxter Stockman, along with game screen shots, a description, and a look at other figures being offered in the line. The only two figures shown on the box of the box that are not yet released are Pirate Rocksteady and Bebop, which I cannot wait for.

Baxter Stockman is one of the most memorable villains in the game, and it’s about time he joins this line. The figure stands taller than the Cartoon version that was offered as a two pack with Splinter, and uses some shared parts, such as the upper arms and legs with Vernon. The rest of the sculpt is brand new to this release.

The deco includes the pixelated 8-bit that we’ve seen throughout the Turtles in Time figure offerings, and this one is another great likeness and detailed design. The figure is painted in two shades of purple on the shirt, blue on the pants, light grey on the sleeves, red bow-tie, and pinkish-purple feet and hands, and insect claws on his back. The wings are done in light pink plastic, and those and the bug arms are swivel-hinged at the joints.

The head sculpt is also nice done and features a great likeness. The eyes also have the pixelated 8-bit deco, with the pupils in a light pink. He also has a bright green face, dark brown around his eyes, red hair, and purple eyes.

Baxter comes with an assortment of accessories that you will recall from the game. The energy hand can grab onto a turtle and hold him up in the air, and required an acrylic figure stand to hold it up, which is also included. This connects to the machine gun that Baxter can hold, but you need to position everything just right to recreate this, and make sure that Baxter’s knees are bent as the energy hand’s stand is on the short side.

He also includes a revolver, and a flying stand that NECA has offered before. This gives him the ability to fly around as seen in the game. Also included are three sets of interchangeable hands, including open, grip and closed fisted.

As stated above, Baxter is taller than the Cartoon Baxter Stockman figure as both had different likeness. This new release captures his look in the game very well, and they have done a remarkable job on those neon colors, articulation, and he fits in perfectly with the other pixelated 8-bit deco figures released so far.

Overall, I personally have many fond memories of the Turtles in Time game, which was one of the best video games during its time. Getting figure from that game is a dream come true, and NECA has been doing a remarkable job on each release, with Baxter being no exception. This is an incredible figure, and surely worth adding to your collection. As you may be aware, this figure is available mostly online and is not a store exclusive, so use one of the links below to grab him.

Up next is Pirate Bebop and Rocksteady, and Lootcrate will have an exclusive Armaggon figure released after that. Beyond that, no other Turtles in Time figure has been announced.
