Happy 2022 everyone, and the first review of this year is NECA’s The Thing Station Survivor MacReady Figure that is based on the classic 1982 film. This new version comes geared up with a new belt, new heads and a flamethrower accessory to fight that creature.

MacReady is packaged in a window box with an opening flap, with artwork depicting him on the cover, images of the figures on the sides and back, along with a description on the top. The opening flap includes another image of the figure, and to the right you see him packaged in a plastic tray along with his accessories.
MacReady is based on how he looks in the classic film, The Thing (1982), and depicts the likeness of actor Kurt Russel. The figure comes in a brown jacket with a metallic wash over it to make it look shiny, and the jacket has sculpted wrinkles, pockets, buttons on the pockets, and a sculpted zipper to make it look more realistic. The belt is brand new and includes bullets on the back of it, and a holster for the revolver. The pants are painted in green and also given sculpted wrinkles, and just like the jacket, it has zippers that are painted in a metallic silver deco. The boots are painted in a dark brown with sculpted laces and other details, and the gloves are black and also resemble a great likeness.
His head sculpts are also brand new and each each given a different facial expression than what was offered with the first release, with a sculpted beard and mustache, and the hair also has a wash on it. The facial details are nicely done and resemble the likeness, and the hooded head comes with with a blue hood with sculpted wrinkles and a wash. That also has a unique facial expression compared to the first release, which came with two of these hooded heads.
He comes with an assortment of accessories, including three interchangeable head sculpts, 5 hand sculpts, 2 gloved hands, a flamethrower, fire effect, dynamite bundle, wire spool, petri dish, blood effect, revolver, and ice axe.
The flamethrower is the largest accessories and notable offering in this box, with a great likeness to how it appears in the film, and something that he needs to fight that creature. The flamethrower has the fire effect piece that plugs into it.
MacReady is also fully articulated, including a ball jointed head, ball hinged shoulders, swivel-hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, ball jointed torso, waist rotation, ball hinged hips, swivel-hinged knees, hinged and rocker ankles.
Overall, MacReady is a phenomenal figure and a great likeness, great attention to detail and accessories. NECA collectors will surely want to add him to their collections. The creature was shown and is planned for 2022, so fans have at least one more figure coming from this film.
