Hasbro Marvel Legends 6″ Quasar Figure Review

Hasbro’s newly released Marvel Legends 6″ Quasar figure is in-stock now at site sponsor Zavvi U.K. for £21.99. Quasar makes his debut in the line, and has been fluctuating in and out of Top 10 lists for years now, given the characters history in  Marvel Comics and as a member of the Avengers. He was even a choice for an official Hasbro Fan Vote, and it’s very likely that Hasbro will continue to look at these lists to help them decide what characters to do next.

Wendell Vaughn is the longest running Quasar and his powers come from the pair of Quantum Bands that are fused to the bearer’s wrists, which are permanently affixed to the wrists. The bands’ powers have the ability to tap into a limitless energy source called the “Quantum Zone,” and can project quantum energy in the form of devastating beams of force or heat.

Thank you to Zavvi U.K. for sending along Hasbro’s Marvel Legends 6″ Quasar Figure for review.

Availability: Q4 2021; February 2022

Quasar is packaged in the standard Marvel Legends window box, with nicely done artwork on the front, sides and back. Also on the back is a description of the character.

Quasar uses a previously offered base body that we’ve seen other male figures given, and has a newly tooled head, cape and Quantum Bands. The outfit is inspired from his classic appearance, including a dark red and blue outfit, with the Quasar symbol on the front of the cape. This mix of reused and newly tooled parts is a good representation of the character’s likeness, and the addition to the line keeps that cosmic vibe theme that Hasbro and Walgreens have been going for lately, with Silver Surfer, Binary, and Nova offered. Getting these brand new characters over variations of others is a preferred way to keep the line going, and getting Wendell into this line is long overdue.

He comes with two sets of interchangeable hands, and the same flame effects that the Human Torch was given years ago. These accessories allow some poses to be created for toyphotography and display, and the flames work with the closed fisted hands.

His articulation includes a ball jointed head, ball hinged shoulders, swivel biceps, double jointed elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, butterfly shoulders, ball jointed torso, swivel wist, ball jointed hips, swivel thighs, double jointed knees, swivel calves, hinged and rocker ankles.

Overall, Quasar is a great figure and a phenomenal likeness to the source material. This line continues to impress and I prefer classic over modern outfits. I would say anything 80’s and 90’s is a preferred fan-favorite, but given the fact that this character first appeared in the 70’s, he still fits in well as the character design was used at least into the 90’s. Make sure to grab this figure and others while they’re available.
