In celebration of Star Wars Day, Diamond Select Toys and ShopDisney are offering a new Star Wars Select Chewbacca figure that is available now, and is the third offering after Darth Maul and Boba Fett. Chewbacca stands at roughly 8″ tall and includes accessories inspired from both the Original Star Wars Trilogy and Solo: A Star Wars Story. Chewie is priced at $34.99 and you can order him by clicking HERE! You can also get him for 25% off until Sunday with code: Extra25.
Availability: May 2022
Chewbacca is packaged in a window box, with nicely done artwork and windows on the front and sides, and an image of Chewbacca on the right side. The back includes drawings of Chewbacca in white, along with his accessories also drawn.
Chewbacca is fully sculpted in fur with four shades of brown deco that are nicely applied and the colors blended in between the dark and lighter colors. The sculpted fur is all sculpted, and makes it look visually appealing and accurate to the source material.
The head sculpt keeps to the source material and also is given sculpted fur, paint washes in brown and black deco, and nicely done facial details including a mouth, nose and eyes, all also painted.
Included with Chewbacca are four accessories, two bandoliers inspired from the Original Star Wars Trilogy, and Solo: A Star Wars Story, his bowcaster and the blaster he used on Vandor-1. The Bandoliers are nicely painted in brown and black, with metallic silver, each with a pouch sculpted to it and hangs from his left hip. The bowcaster is painted in black with a silver wash, and the blaster is black, metallic silver and brown.
Chewbacca is fully articulated, including a ball jointed head, ball hinged shoulders, swivel-hinged elbows, swivel wrists, ball jointed hips, swivel-hinged knees, hinged and rocker ankles.
Overal, Chewbacca is a fantastic figure and this scale works extremely well for the brand. Maybe even more so than the 6″ line as you can more detail and definition in the head sculpts. The figure came out great and definitely something you want to add to your collection. It’s just a shame we have to wait so long in-between releases, but given the pandemic and all that’s totally understandable.
