NECA Toys An American Werewolf In London Kessler Werewolf Figure Review

NECA Toys is now offering their Kessler Werewolf figure that is inspired from the 1981 An American Werewolf In London film, and the figure comes with two head sculpts, with one being a standard portrait, and the other a bloody mouth. In the film, David Kessler is the only survivor of a wolf attack that had killed his friend Jack, but then Jack returns as an Undead Jack to warn David that he will transform into a murderous beast. This figure is based on David Kessler’s werewolf form, which is part of the Ultimate line with modern day articulation and sculpting.

Thank you to NECA for sending along their An American Werewolf In London Kessler Werewolf Figure for review.

Availability: June 2022

Kessler Wolf is packaged in a window box with an opening flap, with artwork from the film, including images of the figure on the sides and back. Also on the back is a description, and at the bottom are the names of all the talented people at NECA that brought this figure together.

The figure comes loaded with sculpted fur throughout his entire body, as you would expect for a werewolf figure. The fur is also gives him sculpted textures, and the fur sculpted around the head and bottom are made of a soft plastic compared to the hard plastic that you see everywhere else. The body also has a paint wash over the fur, so you see all those nicely done details throughout the figure.

Both of the head sculpts look amazing each with the same sculpted fur, details and likeness you would expect. The biggest noticeable difference however is the mouth, with the closed mouth with the teeth sculpted together, and the open mouth that has blood stains deco applied to indicate he has fed. The attention to details in the eyes, including the sculpt and paint also make him look realistic, which is where the designer was headed.

The Kessler Wolf is also fully articulated, including a ball jointed head and neck, ball hinged hips x 4, swivel-hinged hips, swivel-hinged knees, swivel-hinged toes, and a ball jointed torso (this point is limited in motion).

Overall, Kessler Wolf is a phenomenal figure with a great likeness and great quality and attention to detail. This is his first-time as a figure, which is an historic release for the character. If you’ve been waiting a long time for the Kessler Wolf, then it’s about time you grab this figure now and he fits in perfectly with the Nightmare Demons.
