San Diego Comic-Con saw some great offerings from Mattel this summer, one of which is their Masters of the Universe By the Power of Grayskull set that offers a diorama with the front of Castle Grayskull as part of a display, and you can transform Prince Adam into He-Man as seen on the classic Filmation series. The set features 449 pieces and focuses on the front of Castle Grayskull.

The packaging includes artwork of both halves of the power sword, lightning and Castle Grayskull stones on the front, a bit on the sides, and the back includes more of Castle Grayskull stone walls with logo’s. The sword side can slip open to reveal Castle Grayskull inside, which includes artwork on the walls, and a box with all of the pieces inside to build the Castle Grayskull model.
Castle Grayskull includes 449 pieces of fun to build the model, which is the front and the jaw bridge. There’s a gear on the side to rotate the jaw bridge, and you can place Prince Adam and He-Man on the wall as if he is transforming.
Castle Grayskull stands on four legs that can be placed inside the packaging, The sides are mostly flat as depth wasn’t the key focus of the design.
Prince Adam and He-Man are given some new deco with some shading to give the design some definition. They share the same sculpt and the torso’s are different, as Prince Adam comes with his vest, and He-Man his harness. Both include a power sword, which is the same colors as the front of the box.
Prince Adam’s transformation into He-Man (don’t tell Skeletor that!) is another key focus of this set, as the rotating jaw bridge swings and you can place both, as there are two bridges total for them to stand on.
With Castle Grayskull complete, you can still close the box and keep everything intact, which is a major plus for this set. All you need to do is remove the knob on the side and place it on the piece as shown, at which point the box will close as it did before.
Overall, this Castle Grayskull release features a great design even though it’s much smaller than the previously offered one. The rotating jaw bridge is a nice touch to transform Prince Adam, and something new for fans that may already have Castle Grayskull in this collection. The set also gives you a lot of value for the $30 price point, with the beautiful packaging, features and figures. This is definitely something you should add to your collection, and the good news is that this is still available to purchase if you want it.
