Mattel – Masters of the Universe Masterverse New Eternia Deluxe Beast Man Figure Review

Mattel’s newly released Masters of the Universe Masterverse New Eternia Deluxe Beast Man Figure is one offering that should be added to your collection, and will surely be one of this years most memorable figures in this line. Beast Man includes a furry chest piece, some newly tooled armor and additional accessories that fans are surely going to love. This new offering paves way for more potential deluxe offerings like this, and shows how well a classic character like Beast Man will work with some new accessories and a bit of a new design.

The brand is going strong at Mattel and shows no sign of slowing down, with three action figure lines, two animated series, and a ton of product you’re going to have to make some room for what’s to come. While Masters of the Universe: Origins is my new favorite line going on now, which pays tribute to the vintage line of the 1980’s, Masterverse is second to it and getting figures like this is really a treat. But nothing will replace Masters of the Universe: Classics that Mattel had put out, and that line is surely one of a kind that can never be replaced.

Beast Man is packaged in a window box, with artwork featuring the Masterverse design packaging, along with images of Beast Man on the left side and back.

Beast Man is just a beast of a figure, and getting him in a bulky sculpt like this is long overdue, given how monstrous he looks on Revelation, but this design is something new while paying tribute to his classic 80’s counterpart, and this is part of the New Eternia offerings. For starters, he’s given a brand new sculpt that’s bigger and bulkier than anything we’ve seen before, with the colors that pay tribute to the original design, along with some new armor that was missing on his previous release. Beast Man comes in a gold belt with a blue lion cloth, with a piece sticking down the center of it with some patterns. The furry chest piece is by far outstanding, with a harness that wraps around his waist with a skull in the front, spikes on his shoulders, and the furry part is somewhat fragile so be careful with it.

The armor is also removable, and you can strip him down to just his sculpted body fur if you wish, but he does look better all geared up especially with his weapons.

The head sculpt is nicely done with the printed details, including the blue around his eyes, fangs, and sculpted textures and spikes on top of his head. The helmet can be placed on, but is loose fitting and can fall off rather easily.

Beast Man comes with an assortment of accessories, including his classic chest piece of the 80’s, the helmet mentioned above, an additional set of hands, a club and whip weapons. The open grip hands is where the weapons fit into and he has a good grip on both, and you can place one in each hand to make him look even more formidable.

The classic 80’s chest piece is obviously the most familiar with the fanbase that has been around since the beginning, and it’s a great option to swap out the furry one for this. The furry one however just makes him look more fierce, which just makes more sense for the character to get a piece like this. The club and whip look great and works extremely well for him. You also see the difference between the two Masterverse Beast Man figures in the image above, and if there’s one Beast Man you should buy, it’s this one.

Beast Man also is loaded with articulation, including a ball jointed head, ball hinged shoulders, swivel biceps, double-hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, ball jointed torso, swivel waist, ball jointed hips, swivel thighs, double-hinged knees, hinged and rocker ankles.

Overall, Beast Man is a beast as I said above, and the bulkiness of him like this works for the character and shows off his fierce side that you just don’t see as a toy, only in the cartoons. This is definitely a figure that you need to own, regardless of which era or toyline is your favorite. For me it’s Classics, with Origins trailing behind, but getting him like this is truly a gift that you cannot pass up.
