Mattel – Masters of the Universe Masterverse She-Ra Figure Review

Mattel’s Masters of the Universe Masterverse line gets some new additions in this wave, including She-Ra and Hordak offered as deluxe figures and inspired from their 1980’s appearances. She-Ra, otherwise known as Adora, is the sister of He-Man, and leader of the Great Rebellion fights against Hordak and the Evil Horde. She-Ra was created in 1984 and the animated seres ran from 1985 – 1987 with. Over recent years we’ve gotten several figures of the character, including several in Master of the Universe Classics, and now she’s getting a new widespread release with this new offering in 2022.

She-Ra is packaged on the deluxe window box packaging for the line, including some great artwork and images, and a description on the back. The new Princess of Power logo is shown on the front and it’s just great to see it once again on a widespread release offering.

She-Ra gets a brand new figure in this line inspired from her 1980’s appearance, and she appears to be based off the Filmation series. She-Ra comes in her white dress and skirt that is made of a soft plastic, two fabric capes, one with armor on the collar and shoulders, metallic gold boots and gauntlets, as well as gold head piece, a gold belt and gold and a green gem on her dress. The iconic 80’s design is implemented nicely on this figure, and it’s long overdue to get her back on the toy shelves.

Included is a fabric cape with the shoulder piece attached, the Sword of Protection/Power Sword, a shield, an extra set of hands and a masked head sculpt.

The sword and shield look great on her and also designed from their 80’s appearance. Both are painted in a metallic silver, with blue gems, and fit into the open grip hand and the shield in the karate chop hand. The alternate head sculpt comes with a longer cape and gives you a variant version of her that you don’t see in toy form. Both of the head sculpts look great with nicely done facial details.

The comparison pictures gives you a look at how she compares to what’s come before, including Catra, and of course MOTU Classics. Obviously, what the Four Horsemen designed is visually more appealing than this new release, but still a great effort on the designers at Mattel. As you can also see there are some vast differences between the MOTU Classics design and this new release, including the details on the dress and the head sculpts.

Her articulation includes a ball jointed head, ball jointed torso, ball hinged shoulders, swivel biceps, double-hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, ball jointed hips, swivel thighs, double hinged knees, swivel boots, hinged and rocker ankles.

Overall, Mattel’s Masters of the Universe Masterverse line continues to offer some great looking figures inspired from the series, and She-Ra is a perfect example of that. You are definitely going to want to jump in on this line, even if you already have the MOTU Classics figures. She is an essential part of this collection so make sure to grab her now.
