Super7 is offering their Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Ultimates! Wave 8 figures, which includes Shredder, Genghis Frog, Robot Rocksteady and Raph the Space Cadet. These figures are given modern updates and inspired from the vintage toyline. Shredder is inspired from his appearance in the classic cartoon and vintage toy, and includes interchangeable heads and cape that you can swap out.
Thank you to Super7 for sending along their Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Ultimates! Wave 8 Shredder Figure for review.
Availability: October 2023
Shredder is packaged in a window box with a slipcover, with artwork on the front of the slipcover, including an image of him in dark grey, and the classic logo on the back. Once removed, the packaging is consistent with the rest of the line, including nicely done artwork in dark blue and grey, the classic logo, and his name underneath on the bottom. On the back is more great artwork, including a bio and company logo’s. The blue part of the artwork also has graffiti, which is in various colors and design.
Shredder is inspired from the vintage toy, and given some metallic silver deco on the helmet, shoulder and knee pads, and forearm guards. The pads are also given spikes, that are made of a soft plastic to prevent breakage. The outfit also includes purple under the forearm guards, a bare chest, black pants, a black belt, and purple boots. Out of the package the fabric cape is wrapped around waist, and a black belt is tied around it with velcro on the back.
The cape can open and there’s a wire around the edges that allows custom posing.
He includes two head sculpts, one with a metallic silver face plate, and black around the eyes, and the other with a purple mask around the mouth, and flesh tone around the eyes. The helmet is the same on both, and given a metallic silver deco.
Shredder includes two interchangeable head sculpts and interchangeable capes, two Katana swords, two fist daggers, two throwing stars, a Kama sword, a Mutagen canister, and three sets of interchangeable hands (open grip, closed fisted, and open handed).
The plastic cape and this head sculpt represents his cartoon appearance, which is his most memorable appearance.
The two fist daggers, the Mutagen canister, two throwing stars, and the Kama sword are all great accessories, each given metallic silver deco. The throwing stars fit into his hands by placing the center of the stars through his thumbs.
The Katana swords are my personal favorites, as this is his iconic weapon of choice.
Shredder is also fully articulated, including a ball jointed head, swivel-hinged shoulders, swivel biceps, swivel-hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, swivel waist, swivel-hinged hips, swivel-hinged knees, hinged and rocker ankles.
Overall, while I’m a bit behind on opening and displaying the TMNT Ultimates collection, getting this new version of Shredder in-hand just proves once again how awesome these figures are coming out. This is by far his best figure to-date, and the deign team have once again outdone themselves with the detailed design, and quality of this figure. Fans of the vintage line would definitely want this new release of Shredder to their collection. He’s an essential villain to any toy collection and fun to pose and display.
