Bandai Collectibles – S.H. Figuarts Dragon Ball Z Super Saiyan Trunks (Latent Power) Figure Review

Bandai Collectibles are offering their S.H. Figuarts Dragon Ball Z Super Saiyan Trunks (Latent Power) Figure that is based on The Cell Saga, where Future Trunks joins forces with the Z Fighters to battle Androids 17 and 18, but discover that an even bigger threat awaits, and that new villain is named Cell. Cell uses the combined DNA of all of the Z Fighters, including Frieza, as small iobotic insects were collecting this during the battles unnoticed on Earth. Dr. Gero created Cell to be his perfect warrior, and once he absorbs Androids 17 and 18, he will have his “Perfect Form.”

Trunks is from an alternate future, where Androids 17 and 18 defeated all of the Z Fighters, and ruled over Earth. He traveling back in time to train with Goku, and his father Vegeta, and warn them of the coming threat. This version of Trunks is from after training in the time chamber with Vegata, where both left more powerful than ever.

Trunks is the latest figure to be offered in the S.H. Figuarts Dragon Ball Z line, and includes interchangeable face plates, hands and forearms.

Thank you to Bandai Collectibles for sending along their S.H. Figuarts Dragon Ball Z Super Saiyan Trunks (Latent Power) Figure for review.

Availability: November 2023

Trunks is packaged in a window box with artwork and images of the figure on the front, sides and back. The opening flaps are where the instructions are placed, and specifies what parts can be swapped out. He comes packaged in a plastic tray for safe keeping along with his accessories.

Trunks is a repaint from his 2016 S.H. Figuarts Dragon Ball Z release, and given some new deco, with a different shade of blue, and light grey and dark beige Saiyan armor. This is how he looked during the battle with Perfect Form Cell, and this is one of his most essential appearances in the series. The hair is also repainted, and this time gets a metallic gold deco.

While the 2016 release had more accessories, this release is cheaper as he’s $34.99, and comes with a normal face plate with the eyes looking straight, grinning and screaming. Three sets of interchangeable hands, including closed fisted, and two sets of energy open hands.

The articulation includes a ball jointed head, swivel-hinged and butterfly shoulders, swivel biceps, double-hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, ball jointed torso, ball jointed waist, swivel-hinged hips, swivel thighs, double-hinged knees, hinged and rocker ankles, and hinged toes.

Overall, there’s a lot to love about this new Trunks figure and he is surely a must for fans. Even if you have the original, getting this repaint is a must as it’s based on a stronger power level, and the new deco, especially the hair is a nice touch. This is an essential piece to any Dragon Ball collection, so make sure you grab him while you can.
