Diamond Select Toys are offering their Jean-Claude Van Damme Deluxe Figure and is based on his appearance in 1988’s Bloodsport film. In the film, he leaves the U.S. military to compete in a mixed martial arts tournament in Hong Kong where contestants can fight to the death. The figure is part of DST’s 7″ scale offerings, and includes a screaming head sculpt, interchangeable hands, chairs, and three broken bottles and a stand.

JCVD is packaged in a window box, with logo’s and a window on the front, an image and description on the back.
Jean-Claude Van Damme is inspired of photo’s of him and not necessarily movie-based, according to Diamond Select Toys. He comes in his Underground fight gear that includes black and yellow trunks, with the belt hanging down the right hip. The rest of the sculpt showcases his skin, which includes a wash on the collar bones.
He is also full articulated, and includes a ball jointed head and beck, ball hinged shoulders, swivel biceps, double-hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, ball jointed torso, ball jointed hips, double-hinged knees, hinged and rocker ankles.
His head sculpts are both given unique expressions, with one being bruised and bloody with an open mouth. The hair on both is painted brown, including the eye lashes.
Included are three sets of interchangeable hands, two heads, a base and acrylic stand, two bottles (one of which is broken), and two chairs.
The hands include closed fisted, karate, and open grip. The open grip hands can hold onto the bottles so he can use them as a weapon. One of the bottles are broken in two parts, and they also can’t fit back together.
The acrylic base and stand can be difficult to use as he is heavier than it, and tends to fall over if you don’t apply some weight to the base when the stand is attached. This is really the only pose I can figure out so he won’t fall over.
The chairs are meant so he can do a split, and there is a groove on the front so his feet can be placed on that. It’s also best to use the acrylic base and stand for his back, as it’s difficult to get him to stay in place without it in this pose.
The chairs themselves look great, and have a beige cushion, and painted and sculpted to look like wood. They can’t be stacked, and are mostly meant to be used for him to do that split.
Overall, Jean-Claude Van Damme is a nice looking figure with a decent likeness and attention to detail. He is also a bit on the fragile side so be wary of that. This is something that JCVD fans will probably want to own, but also something that casual fans may want to also add to their karate and martial arts figure collection.
