Hasbro is wrapping up the 2024 Transformers Legacy United line-up with one of this years final releases, which is their G1 Universe Metalhawk figure that is repainted from the Transformers Legacy Evolution release of this figure. This release is given new deco that is pays tribute to the vintage toy, which would be appealing to fans of Generation One.
Thank you to BigBadToyStore for sending along Hasbro’s Transformers Legacy United G1 Universe Metalhawk figure for review.
Availability: October 2024
Metalhawk is packaged in the standard window box, which has no plastic and only cardboard. The artwork and logo’s are seen on all sides, and the back includes images of him in both robot and jet mode.
Metalhawk is a retool of Kingdom Cyclonus and is given new deco to match his vintage toy, whereas his Transformers Legacy Evolution release was inspired from the cartoon. He comes in a dark blue, metallic silver, dark grey, gold, and red, with an Autobot logo on his chest. This is an eye appearing looking figure as the colors blend in nicely and includes both bright and dark, which would stand out on a shelf.
Metalhawk includes a sword and two blasters, which can be snapped together and held in one hand, or split apart and held in two hands.
The blasters can also be stored on his shoulders or legs as shown in robot mode. The sword however can only be placed in his hand as it doesn’t have a spot to be stored on the body in this mode.
Comparing him to the previous release, the two figures stand apart and all except for the red are different shades of color, including the accessories.
His Cybertronian Jet Mode also looks great and there is a a lot of attention to detail in this mode. The Autobot logo is not shown on the top, but it does appear on the bottom where the chest is. This mode also pays tribute to the vintage toy, with the lighter blue, dark grey and red.
Comparing him to the previous release in this mode, you see the vast amount of differences in color, which stands out between both figures. The accessories can also all be stored on his body in this mode, including the sword on his back, and the blasters on his sides.
A look at the instruction booklet for his transformation and the articulation in robot are featured in the video above.
Overall, Hasbro’s Transformers Legacy United Metalhawk figure looks great and has an excellent character likeness and attention to detail that fans will love. It’s always great to be able to add a G1 character to the collection even if he’s a repaint, and the more obscure characters Hasbro can put out the better. This is definitely a Transformers figure that you should grab, so make sure to pick him up today at BigBadToyStore.
