Marvel Select Spider-Gwen 7″ Figure Review

Diamond Select Toys is offering their Marvel Select Spider-Gwen figure based on her appearance in Marvel Comics. Spider Gwen is from an alternate reality, or Earth 65, as fans of the ongoing comic series will be familiar with. Spider-Gwen explores a universe where Gwen Stacy was bitten by the radioactive spider instead of Peter Parker, forcing her into a career as a superhero.

From the other side of the Spider-Verse comes the rockin’est Spider-hero in town! Mary Jane’s drummer and protector of New York City, Gwen Stacy joins the Marvel Select action figure line! Standing approximately 6 3/4-inches, Spider-Gwen comes with interchangeable raised and lowered hoods, various interchangeable hands, and a sculpted diorama base depicting a fallen robot! The Marvel Select Spider-Gwen Action Figure comes packaged in the display-ready Select packaging with side-panel artwork. Ages 8 and up.

Thank you to Diamond Select Toys for providing their Marvel Select Spider-Gwen 7″ Figure for review.

Spider-Gwen stands at 6-1/2″ tall and is sculpted in her black, white, metallic pink and blue outfit. The black and white deco make up most of the custom, which covers most of her chest, hoodie and mask, back, part of the arms, the hips and legs. The metallic pink and blue webbing deco is shown on the biceps and elbows, ribs, and there is a pink wash on her mask. In addition, the inside of the hoodie painted in metallic pink and blue webbing. Her shoes are also painted in a different shade of blue. The Gwen Stacy head sculpt has a great likeness to the character, and includes long blonde hair, facial details, and a black head band. The paint applications on this head sculpt are nicely designed, which includes makeup on the face and a wash on the hair. A separate piece for the hoodie also comes with the figure that rests on her shoulders. Also included are three additional hand sculpts.

Her articulation includes a ball jointed neck, ball hinged shoulders, swivel biceps, hinged elbows, swivel hinged wrists, ball jointed torso, swivel hinged hips, double-jointed knees, and swivel hinged ankles.

Spider-Gwen also includes a diorama base with a fallen robot which is mostly underneath the rubble. The robot is painted in gold with black burn marks throughout the sculpt. The robot has various textures on the sculpt, and the shoulders appear to have finns on either side. The robot’s eyes are painted in yellow, and the head has some sculpted beveled inward. The left arm is still attached to the robot, and includes burn marks on most of it. The right hand and another part are shown on the ground, and it looks like they were torn off. The surface of the diorama base is made up of stones, and there is a peg for Spider-Gwen’s feet on the surface and body of the robot. The surface consists of several sculpted textures and a rocky surface, which is painted in a dark grey with a wash over it.

Overall, Spider-Gwen is an excellent figure with a great likeness to the character as she is seen in the comics. The diorama base is another nicely sculpted piece worth of adding to a shelf for display, and Jean St. Jean has done a remarkable job sculpting these.
