The Defenders box set is inspired by the live-action series on Netflix, and includes the five heroes that were featured in the series – Daredevil, Luke Cage, Iron Fist, Jessica Jones and Colleen Wing. The packaging for the set is inspired of a subway train car, and features both interior and exterior artwork showcasing this detail. While the outer detail of the packaging showcases the train car and has graffiti such as the words The Hand, The Defenders, as well as signs and posters, the interior of the car has each of the figures sitting and standing, as well some realistic details showcasing the detail of an actual train. The interior detail also includes seats, posters, advertisements, mice, soda cans, posters, railings, and additional detail to make this look as detailed as possible. The figures are secured inside with plastic and attached to it to keep them from moving around.  The packaging is comprised of two parts, the slip cover, and the window box showcasing the figures inside.

Daredevil looks identical to his single carded released in the Man Thing Build-A-Figure wave, with a brand new unmasked head sculpt featuring the likeness of Actor Charlie Cox. The figure has sculpted detail on the costume and is painted in dark red and black, with some silver highlights such as the buckles. Included with Daredevil are the batons that can be held in each hand, or put together, and a masked head sculpt that also looks identical to the single carded release. In most cases, there are differences in paint applications between the single carded release, and convention exclusive figures, but with Daredevil that is not the case.

Jessica Jones gets a new look as well as shares some parts with the previously offered figure, and loses the leather jacket, but gains a tank top and shows off her bare arms. This torso was also used on the previous figure that is underneath the jacket, but the arms a new to her. The head sculpt is also new, and the facial likeness is different than what was previously offered. For example, there is more detail on the eyes as they are less squinted and more rounded. The lipstick is also a different color. Her jeans and boots are almost exactly the same as far as deco, with the jeans having a lighter wash to it.

Luke Cage is new, and fans will also see him again in upcoming 2 packs. This version of Luke Cage is dressed in his red tee shirt, blue jeans, and black shoes. The cloths include wrinkles, and the jeans have a light wash over it in various places. On his right wrist is a grey watch that is a separate piece and be slid up and down his forearm. The facial details are nicely done and he has a great likeness Actor Mike Colter.

Iron Fist also makes his debut in this box set, and is dressed in a dark grey jacket, pants, a light grey shirt, a black belt with a silver belt buckle and white shoes. The details on the suit are nicely done, and the jacket on the torso is made of a soft plastic, while the arm sleeves are hard plastic. The head sculpt is nicely done, and the textured hair with curls and a light wash really brings out the details. The face includes a brown beard and mustache. The right hand is made of a orange translucent plastic and looks like its glowing, and the left hand is left open such as a karate chop position.

Colleen Wing is also exclusive to this set, and this may be your only opportunity to own her. She is sculpt and painted in her white outfit as seen in the series, with some dark grey on the torso. Her outfit includes a hooded jacket with the zipper almost half way down revealing the white undershirt, and there is also grey deco on the upper part of her back. The pants are folded up almost half way up to the knees, and the shows include white deco with grey shoe laces, and grey bottoms. Included with Colleen is a sword and a sheath that is made of soft plastic. The sheath cannot be stored anywhere on her body, and can only be held in her hand. The facial details are nicely done, and she has a great likeness to Actress Jessica Henwick.

Overall, this is an impressive box set with superior packaging that fans can use a diorama, and a great selection of figures.

This box set is exclusive to San Diego Comic-Con, and will be available this week if you are attending the show, and  HasbroToyShop in August. We would like to thank Hasbro once again for providing this set for review.
