The Red Skull stands at 6″ tall and is based on his appearance as seen in Captain America: The First Avenger. For those of you that saw Avengers: Infinity War, the Red Skull had a small role in that film as well, which we’re not going into incase anyone reading hasn’t seen the movie yet. The Red Skull is part of the Marvel Studios: The First Ten Years collection and is sculpted in his long dark grey skirt that has the appearance of looking like leather, but is made of a soft plastic. The entire outfit including the jacket and pants are dark grey, and also has the appearance of leather. The outfit also has some black deco on the gloves, belt and boots, which have a gloss finish. The outfit is also painted with silver buttons, a belt buckle with a Hydra logo sculpted at the center, and a silver belt buckle on the strap across his chest. There is also a Hydra logo on his left shoulder that is painted in red, as well as red stripes on his sides and collar. His head sculpt is nicely sculpted and painted in red, with a black wash over it. The eyes are teeth are painted in white, and the pupils appear to be painted in black.
His articulation includes a ball jointed neck, swivel hinged shoulders, swivel biceps, double jointed elbows, ball jointed wrists, ball jointed torso, ball jointed hips, double jointed knees, hinged and rocker ankles.
Included with the Red Skull is the Cosmic Cube that fits into his hand, and is made of a dark translucent plastic, and an electronic Tessoract. The Tessoract lights-up by opening it, and installing batteries into the clear plastic circular piece inside. It requires 3 AAA batteries, and once lit up by pressing the button on the clear piece, the Tessoract brights up.
This box set is exclusive to San Diego Comic-Con, and will be available this week if you are attending the show, and HasbroToyShop in August. We would like to thank Hasbro once again for providing this set for review.
Overall, the Red Skull is an excellent figure with a great likeness to his appearance in Captain America: The First Avenger. We especially like how the head sculpt came out and the outfit details look spectacular. The Cosmic Cube and Tessoract look great as well, and really makes this set something special for fans.
