The Aquaman Movie DC Multiverse wave is by far one of the best movie-accurate lines offered by Mattel in recent years, which has the same quality, deco and attention to detail as the comic-accurate figures sculpted by the Four Horsemen. Mattel is starting this line off right with hitting all of the primary characters in the film, which includes both heroes and villains.

All of the figures in this wave have sculpted textures on their suits and costumes that has some great movie likeness, with the exception of the Black Manta as his suit is more smooth, but has some of the best detail in the wave. The sculpted textures have a rough finish on the sculpt, and do look most impressive. Aquaman is in his classic orange and green colors with a gold belt and armor on the sides. The gauntlets and the lower portion of the legs have a light green that also has a metallic finish, which helps it stand out from the dark green pants. Aquaman includes his trident, which is nicely sculpted. Mera has some of the best sculpted detail and pattern in the entire wave, and her sculpted is loaded with a fish-like pattern covering her entire outfit. The outfit is painted in a bright blue that has a metallic finish, with some gold deco on the forearms, stomach, and crown on her head. The chest part of the outfit has some darker blue, purple and grey deco painted in-between the patterns. Mera includes a spear, and water effect hand sculpts. The head sculpts on both Aquaman and Mera look fantastic and have a great likeness. The beard on Aquaman has a sculpted texture to it, which is a nice touch.

Ocean Master has sculpted texture throughout his entire sculpt, and the costume is painted in purple and light grey. There are several shades of purple including light and dark on the chest, and the pattern and sculpted details on the stomach area have both light and dark purple that is a different shade compared to the purple covering the rest of the sculpt. The cape is made of a soft plastic and has a textured pattern on the back. The head sculpt is nicely done, and is mostly covered with the mask, which features some great detail, and is painted in light grey on the helmet part, silver for the mask and red for the eyes. Included with Ocean Master is his trident, which is painted in light grey and purple. Black Manta features a fully detailed sculpt, which is mostly cast in black and some red deco on the eyes, sides and back of the suit. The sculpt features tubes coming from the front of hist chest to the tank on the back, and the tank is connected to water jets that can swivel up and down, which in water allows him to move faster. The dome shaped helmet looks great and also has some sculpted detail especially on the top. On his left forearm is a knife connected to it, and Black Manta also includes a sword that also has some great sculpted detail, and has some red stripes towards the handle. The Trench Warrior is the Collect & Connect figure in the wave, and definitely looks the part. This figure has the appearance of a sea humanoid creature. The sculpt has the sculpted texture and patterns on the arms, chest and legs, with some skeletal structures on the chest and head. The head has a Finn on top with a opening jaw, and the detail is remarkable on this figure especially those teeth and skeletal structures on the chest. The finns on the back, and back of the arms and legs are made of a soft plastic, which looks great. The sculpt is painted in a dark blue, with a light wash of pink used on the head and finns, and the finns have some of the blue on them as well. The skeletal structures on the chest are in a light grey, which also appears on the upper legs and hips.

The articulation for all of the figures is mostly the same, which includes a ball jointed head, ball hinged shoulders, swivel biceps, hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, ab crunch, swivel waist, ball jointed hips, swivel thighs, double-hinged knees, hinged and rocker ankles. The Trench Warrior has hinged ankles due to his feet being different and more creature-like.

Overall, Mattel’s new Aquaman Movie DC Multiverse line is spectacular, and each figure features an excellent sculpt with superior deco and detail. This is by far one of Mattel’s best DC Movie lines in recent years and fans will come to enjoy these figures.
