Mattel is taking the WWE brand to the next level that goes above and beyond the Elite figures, by offering a new line of Ultimate Edition figures that features more detail, articulation, accessories and paint applications than seen before. These figures are an upgrade to an already impressive line of Wrestling figures, and the first wave includes the legendary Ultimate Warrior, and new comer Ronda Rousey.
Thank you to Mattel for providing the WWE Ultimate Edition Ronda Rousey Figure for review.
Availability: July 2019
Ronda Rousey is packaged in a new type of window box that is styled different than the packaging for the WWE Elite figures, and has action shots of the wrestlers on the back, a brief bio, and an image of them on the right side. The figures and all of their accessories are carefully placed in a plastic tray, which is nicely displayed in the box and gives you a good look at what’s included.
The Ultimate Warrior and Ronda Rousey remain in the 7″ scale, and both figures are given additional attention to detail and paint applications, more accessories and a much more detailed likenesses. Ronda Rousey is given an update that features a much more accurate sculpt and detail that better captures her facial likeness. She comes with a removable ring attire entrance black leather jacket that has nicely done sculpted details with realistic folds. The arms of the jacket are removable and interchangeable with her bare arms, and once the arms are removed the jacket looks like a vest and can be slipped right off her torso. The last part of her ring attire is her red and black Irish Kilt that’s around her hips. Between the jacket, kilt and design of the Rowdy! text on her shirt are meant as a homage to the WWE Hall of Fame legend Rowdy Piper.
Her facial likeness is upgraded from the first two figure releases, and she comes with three interchangeable head sculpts each with a different facial expression, and two of these heads have a ponytail, and one with the hair around her shoulder as seen with the other two releases. All three of the head sculpts are unique with the sculpted, facial details and paint applications. The heads are also easy to swap out as they just pop right off without the use of excessive force or risk of damage. The heads each have nicely done painted applications on the eyes and mouths, as well as sculpted hair that is painted in a dark blonde. On the non-smiling head there is some missing paint of the hair around the ears, which has a circular paint pattern around the ear as it looks like they didn’t want to risk getting a drop of paint on the ear itself.
The rest of the sculpt is nicely done and she is sculpted and painted in a white tank top with the Rowdy! logo in yellow with black on the edges, and the tank top has red trim on top with a red straps shaped as an X on her back that holds it up. She also has black shirts, black boots, black wrist guards and knuckle guards on her hands. Ronda Rousey also has two sets of interchangeable hand sculpts (fisted and grabbing) that she can use with her sleeved arms or bare arms.
Ronda Rousey is also given updated articulation that includes a ball jointed head, ball jointed torso, ball hinged shoulders, swivel biceps, double-hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, swivel waist, swivel thighs, double-hinged knees, swivel calves, hinged and rocker ankles.
Overall, the Ultimate Edition version of Ronda Rousey is truly a definitive version of the character that every WWE fan needs to own. The upgrade to the articulation and even more detail really brings out a much more life-like appearance to him that fans are sure to love. Every bit of detail is given to the figure that fans have been requesting. Ronda Rousey is coming this Summer, which it’s looking like a July release at Amazon and Target, so make sure to get your pre-orders in now.
