Mattel – WWE Ultimate Edition Bret “The Hitman” Hart Figure Review

The second wave of Mattel’s WWE Ultimate Edition includes Bret “Hitman” Hart and Shinsuke Nakamura. A third wave was also announced at San Diego Comic-Con to include Triple H and Finn Balor. The first wave introduced fans to this new line of WWE action figures that has more detail, articulation, accessories and paint applications than the WWE Elite figures. This wave included the Ultimate Warrior and Ronda Rousey.

Bret Hart is based on his appearance from the King of the Ring 1994 event, which had Bret Hart defend his championship against Intercontinental champion Diesel (later called Kevin Nash). This match ended when Jim ‘The Anvil” Neidhart interfered with the match but the title doesn’t change hands by disqualification.

Thank you to Mattel for providing their WWE Ultimate Edition Bret Hart figure for review.

Availability: August 2019

Bret Hart is packaged in a new type of window box that is styled different than the packaging for the WWE Elite figures, and has action shots of the wrestler on the back, a brief bio, and an image of him on the right side. The figures and all of their accessories are carefully placed in a plastic tray, which is nicely displayed in the box and gives you a good look at what’s included.

Bret Hart gets the Ultimate treatment from Mattel and is the definitive version of the Hit Man that you can own. If you grew up watching wrestling in the 90’s, you undoubtably had the pleasure of watching him in action. This figure gives you a great update to the man in his most iconic Hart Foundation ring attire and outfit.

The figure is based on the 1994 King of the Ring event and comes in his leather black jacket that includes shoulder pads, silver zippers, stripes and stars. The jacket has a few different sculpted textures that are nicely done and the paint applications on it are solid. The jacket opens up in the front allowing you to remove it so he can get ready for his match.

The ring attire features the Hart Foundation iconic colors, including pink, black and white. The tank top is cast in black, with pink and white deco splattered over it. There is also a skull with wings that is placed on the upper left side, which looks great. The tank top also has a pink edge around it, which helps the black and detailed paint stand out more. The pants are pink with black stripes on the sides, black stars on the right thigh, black stripes down the center of the sides of the legs with skulls and stars over it. Across the buttocks is more of the black deco, with the pink and white splatter, and stripes below it, along with the skull with pinks painted in white over the black deco. The boots are mostly in whitewash pink deco along the shoe laces and edges along the top, with pink and black stars on the otter sides, and black deco along the bottom. There are also black shoulder pads that are both soft plastic, pink knee pads and pink wrist bands that are painted on.

All three of his head sculpts came out great and includes the FX enhanced facial detailing for life-like authenticity. The biggest differences here is the mouth expressions as shown, with sculpted long black hair. The glasses are removable and also compatible with all three of the heads.

Bret Hart is fully articulated that includes a ball jointed head, ball jointed torso, ball hinged shoulders, swivel biceps, double-hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, swivel waist, ball jointed hips, swivel thighs, double-hinged knees, swivel boots, hinged and rocker ankles and hinged toes,

Included with Bret Hart are three interchangeable head sculpts, glasses, a removable jacket, jacket arms, bare arms, three sets of interchangeable hands (closed fisted, grabbing and open), and glasses.

Overall, the Ultimate Edition version of Bret Hart is truly a definitive version of the character that every WWE fan needs to own. The upgrade to the articulation and even more detail really brings out a much more life-like appearance to him that fans are sure to love. Every bit of detail is given to the figure that fans have been requesting. Bret Hart is coming this August, so make sure to get your pre-orders in now.
