Mattel – WWE Elite Demon Finn Balor & AJ Styles Figure 2-Pack Review

At the 2017 TLC (Tables, Ladders & Chairs) match in Minneapolis, the Demon Finn Balor faced off against AJ Styles in what is considered one of the greatest matches in their careers. Both Superstars threw everything that they had at each other and at the end of the match they had a moment of humanity when both stood at the center of the ring sharing a “Too Sweet” moment, which this 2-pack is based off of.

Thank you to Mattel for providing their WWE Elite Demon Finn Balor & AJ Styles Figure 2-Pack for review.

Purchase:

Finn Balor and AJ Styles are packaged in a window box with nicely done WWE artwork on the front, images of the wrestlers on the sides, as well as on the back. The figures are placed in a plastic tray along with all of their accessories.

Finn Balor comes in a variation of his Demon form as seen at the 2017 TLC match against AJ Styles. So far, everyone of his Demon forms we’ve seen a slight variation of the paint applied to his body for the match, and this particular version actually has less paint compared to some of the other versions, but this one actually has faces with eyes and sharp white teeth on his neck, and there are even hands with long fingers on his pecks and shoulders. His back shows a full image of a demon with wings, a mouth for a chest with sharp fans, a head, arms and legs, which is seen mostly in black with white highlights, and red behind him to help it stand out. He is also his black shorts, with his arms painted in black, black knee pads with red in front that are made of a soft plastic, nd black boots. The sculpt is thin and muscular, and by now you should know what you’re getting in the Elite line. Where he differs is the body paint of the Demon, along with the changes to his outfit that was unique to this match. As the match progressed, the paint started to wear off and you can see some of that detail applied to this figure, especially his alternate head sculpt with the paint. That head sculpt has the white mouth across his mouth, with black and red paint covering his entire face and forehead. The forehead is where you also see some of it wearing off, as seen in the match.

The other head sculpt is unpainted, and he is sculpted with a smiling face and nicely done facial details. He also comes in a black shirt with velcro on the back to remove it. Also included are two sets of interchangeable hands, (chop and Spider-Man web shooting), along with two interchangeable head sculpts and a removable entrance soft goods shirt.

His articulation includes a ball jointed head, ball hinged shoulders, swivel biceps, hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, ab crunch, swivel waist, ball jointed hips, swivel thighs, double hinged knees, hinged and rocker ankles.

AJ Styles is given an updated head sculpt with the long hair, with some slight changes to his outfit. He comes in his black and white entrance gear vest that is removable, blue pants with nicely detailed designs and patterns as we’ve previously seen. This includes the P1 pattern, the word Phenomenal on his right shin guard, and the #1 on the right shin guard that is painted in white with a black trim around it. He also has a black elbow pad that is made of soft plastic with the P1 symbol, blue gloves with the name AJ and the P1 symbol, and his name on blue wrist bands that are also made of a soft plastic with the name Styles, and a blue wrist band with the word AJ painted on his left wrist. His chest hair and tattoos are the same as before, with his AJ tattoo on the right side of his rib and four dates below it.

Aside from this outfit being unique to this match, there aren’t too. many differences to this figure aside from the long hair head sculpt with great facial details as always. Considering how great Finn Balor came out, it’s a good idea for Mattel to offer him in this 2-pack as most people would probably already own a similar version of AJ Styles like this.

His articulation includes a ball jointed head, ball hinged shoulders, swivel biceps, hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, ab crunch, swivel waist, ball jointed hips, swivel thighs, double hinged knees, hinged and rocker ankles.

He also includes two sets of interchangeable hand sculpts (chop and Spider-Man web shooting), and a removable vest.

Overall, the Demon Finn Balor and AJ Styles Elite figures look great and Mattel’s WWE team has once again offered a great set of figures that are based on this match. Depending on how much of a completists you are, you definitely should add this one to your collection, especially for the detail on Finn Balor.
