This years San Diego Comic-Con gets some special Cobra Kai figures from Diamond Select Toys, including Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence figures with new head sculpts and accessories, along with VHS-style clamshell case packaging. Each figure is priced at $24.99 and will be sold at the Diamond Select Toys booth at Comic-Con, which takes place July 20-24th. These figures are also limited to 4,000 pieces each.

Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence are packaging in a VHS-style clamshell case, which pays tribute to the old VHS cassette packaging that movies used to be offered in back in the 1980’s and 1990’s. The covers features artwork inspired from the series, along with logo’s, on the front and sides, images from the series and additional artwork on the back. The figures are inside the clamshell packaging on the right, and the accessories are located on the left. Unfortunately, you have to cut around the plastic to remove the figures and accessories as these are not re-sealable, which would have been great considering how spectacularly done the packaging is.
Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence share the same sculpt as offered with their first release, and each is given a new head sculpt depicting younger likenesses, whereas the first releases had older likenesses as seen in the series. The sculpts includes their karate uniforms, including a white karate outfit for Daniel, with a black belt, and a black karate outfit for Johnny also with a black belt. The uniforms include sculpted details such as carved lines in the front, and Daniel’s back he has the logo for Miyagi-Do Karate.
Their head sculpts features a great likeness to the actors, including Ralph Macchio (Daniel LaRusso) and William Zabka (Johnny Lawrence). The head bands also look great, including the one for Daniel LaRusso, with the black pattern lines and dots.
The articulation for both are the same, including a ball jointed head, ball hinged shoulders, swivel biceps, double-hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, ball jointed torso, ball jointed hips, swivel thighs, double-hinged knees, and hinged ankles.
Included with the figures are display bases, and a collector’s card.
Overall,
Daniel LaRusso and Johnny Lawrence are great additions to the Cobra Kai line that Diamond Select Toys has been offering, and you need these for your collection as they have the younger likenesses. If you’re going to SDCC, make sure to grab them, or order them online at the stores listed below:
