An image is popping up on social media of one of this years Mattel displays at San Diego Comic-Con, which shows some new additions to the line. This includes 2 unknown Snakemen figures (likely for army building), Grizzlor (non-Power-Con exclusive version), and a Planet Eternia playset, which looks like the old 80’s offering. Planet Eternia is too big for today’s toy market without going the crowdfunding route, which is what Mattel did for MOTU Classics Castle Grayskull and Super7 did for MOTU Classics Snake Mountain. It’s possible they could do it again, but it feels unlikely especially since Snake Mountain hasn’t been announced for Origins.
Update: Apparently, it’s been confirmed that a Planet Eternia playset is coming in the Origins line. This will be offered on Mattel Creations, probably as a crowdfunded set.
More details and announcements to come this week. Already we’ve seen King Randor and the Roton vehicle announced today.
Look for pre-orders on BigBadToyStore, Entertainment Earth and Amazon.
