shopDisney Exclusive – Marvel Toy Box – Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Black Panther & Namor Set Review

ShopDisney is offering their exclusive Marvel Toy Box – Black Panther and Namor figure set that is inspired from the new film Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. These characters are given the Toy Box treatment, which is a style we saw in the Disney Infinity game but has expanded over the years in new entertainment properties, such as television shows and films, and as this is movie inspired, these figures are part of their Marvel Cinematic Universe offerings.

This Marvel Toy Box offering is numbered as 34 of the line. This set is priced at $18.99 and you can grab this and other Toy Box offerings by clicking HERE!

Thank you to ShopDisney for sending along their Black Panther and Namor figure set along for review.

Availability: January 2023

Black Panther and Namor are packaged in the standard Toy Box blister card, with packaging artwork, an images on the side, and the back gives you images of the figures. In most cases, you’d get a sneak peek at additional figures being offered that are either just released or upcoming, however the back only shows what’s in this package, and nothing else.

Black Panther and Namor are inspired from their appearance in the new Black Panther: Wakanda Forever film, and not a tribute to the Disney Infinity game that so many of the Toy Box figures have been loosely based on. As you may have heard, Actor Chadwick Boseman passed away, leaving the Black Panther role open for a beneficiary that the film had covered.

This version of Black Panther is his sister, Shuri, taking up the mantle at the end of the film, as most of the film you just didn’t have a Black Panther in it. This figure depicts her likeness, with a black suit, with some beautifully done metallic gold and metallic deco. The sculpt is thin as seen in the film, while keeping this stylized a bit in the Toy Box style that you’d recall from other releases, such as how the head and forearms are designed.

The articulation includes a ball jointed head, swivel-hinged shoulders, swivel-hinged biceps, swivel-hinged wrists, swivel waist, swivel-hinged hips, swivel-hinged knees, and swivel-hinged ankles.

Namor also makes his debut in this line, and stylized in the Toy Box format. The figure comes in a brown skin tone, green trunks, metallic gold armor, dark blue, white pearls and gold on the necklace, white features on the sides of his lower legs so he can fly. He also has white pearls on the ankles, dark blue on the gauntlets and the trident has both metallic gold and blue deco. This can be held in both hands, but the right is an open grip while the left has the fingers sculpted apart. He’s also more bulky than he is in the film, as this is stylized in toy Marvel Toy Box line and not meant to be film accurate, it’s important to remember that.

His head sculpt is also nicely done, with the green earrings, and nicely done facial details and sculpted hair, with the top of it being flat.

His articulation includes a ball jointed head, ball hinged shoulders, swivel-hinged biceps, swivel-hinged wrists, swivel waist, swivel-hinged hips, swivel-hinged knees, and swivel-hinged ankles.

Overall, the Marvel Toy Box line continues to offer some great characters and this set is no exception. This is an essential piece to the Toy Box film/movie line and something that you’ll need to add if you’ve been collecting this. I’m personally hoping to see more character debuts in this line that either came from Disney Infinity or another entertainment property. Make sure to grab this and more while you can.
