One of the world’s all-time greatest boxers joins Mattel’s WWE Ultimate Edition line-up as this years San Diego Comic-Con exclusives, inspired from his appearances during his time in the wrestling ring. This includes his appearance as a referee in 1985 at the in inaugural WrestleMania event, as well as a second figure with his iconic boxing gloves and robes.

Muhammad Ali comes packaged in a special convention box with the praise “The Greatest of All Time on the front, images of him in his boxing glove and referee outfit on the sides, and a quote on the back. Inside the box there is a homage to a magazine cover with Champions Boxer vs. Wrestler with text and images, and the sides have his name, and the WWF logo. The side splits opens, to reveal the figures inside. They are covered with a cover, with Antonio Inoki and Hulk Hogan on the cover, along with the dates of the match. Both figures are packaged in a plastic tray, and below the boxer is where the accessories are stored in a small box.
The box has accessories for both figures inside, including the robe, two additional interchangeable heads, and 6 additional sets of interchangeable hands. The heads and hands are placed inside a plastic tray, with the robe underneath. The interchangeable hands include open grip, closed fisted, open chop, 1, 2 and 3 fingers pointed for a count out, along with the extra open grip already on the referee, and boxing gloves.
The robe is made of fabric and comes with a belt that you can tie, and his name on the back in black text. You’re going to need to remove the boxing gloves to place it on.
Muhammad Ali has some shared parts with Ultimate Edition Mr. T, including the chest and stomach, and the boxing gloves are reuse from the Mr. T and Roddy Piper 2-pack. The rest of the sculpt is brand new, including the head, shoulders and arms, torso and legs. He comes in white shorts with black stripes, white booth with black and white socks, and the boxing gloves are red with white trim on the wrists. There’s also an additional set of open grip hands that can be used for this figure, as the referee already has an open grip hand set.
His articulation includes a ball jointed head, butterfly shoulders, ball hinged shoulders, swivel biceps, double-hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, ball jointed torso, swivel waist, ball jointed hips, swivel thighs, double-hinged knees, swivel calves, hinged and rocker ankles, and hinged toes.
The referee outfit includes a light grey shirt with a black bowtie, dark blue pants, and black boots. The outfit is all plastic, and the articulation is cit into it.
Muhammad Ali in his referee outfit’s articulation includes a ball jointed head, butterfly shoulders, ball hinged shoulders, swivel biceps, double-hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, ball jointed torso, swivel waist, ball jointed hips, swivel thighs, double-hinged knees, swivel ankles, and hinged toes.
Overall, Muhammad Ali makes a great addition to the line and fans are surely going to want to pick him up at this years San Diego Comic-Con, and online at Mattel Creations. The figure looks amazing in both outfits and accurate to his appearances from both times. This is one you’re going to want to add to your collection especially if you’re a fan of the golden age of wrestling.
