NECA is offering the highly anticipated release of their Disney’s Gargoyles Ultimate Elisa Maza Figure from the 1990’s classic animated series, which gives us modern sculpts of this memorable brand. Elias is a human ally of the Gargoyle’s, and the second human they encountered other than Xanatos after the curse that turned them to stone was broken after the Castle was raised above the sky in New York City. Elisa is packaged in a window box with an opening flap, with artwork featuring her investing on the front, images of the figure on the sides and back. Also on the back is a description, and a look at additional figures in this line. The opening flap includes another image, and on the right is the window box showing the figure, along with her accessories all packaged in a plastic tray.
Elisa and Xanatos are the first two humans offered in the line, and Elisa is the human ally of the Gargoyle’s and the love interest of Goliath. Elisa comes in her standard outfit, including a red jacket with a black wash and metallic silver zippers, light blue jeans with cuffs, a black undershirt and black boots.
Her head sculpt is swappable by removing the hair and placing the new one on, and she comes with a third head with a different hair sculpt that is blowing right. The facial details are nicely done with purple lips and a purple wash over the black hair.
Included are the wings for Brooklyn, three sets of interchangeable hands (closed fisted, open grip and trigger finger), two interchangeable heads/face plates, a third head with hair, Cagney the cat, a flashlight, and a Police badge.
Cagney the cat is grey and has a swivel neck.
The police badge and flashlight can be held in either of her open grip hands, and both are small and can be easily lost if you aren’t careful. The police badge is in gold, while the flashlight has a yellow light in the front and a black handle.
Brooklyn’s wings fit over the torso and there are pins in the back of the wings that are pushed into his back. The wings fit perfectly and have a sculpted pattern and wash on the black part.
Elisa stands shorter than more of the Gargoyle’s figures, and the size proportions works well with the animated series.
Her articulation includes a ball jointed head, swivel-hinged shoulders, swivel biceps, double-hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, ball jointed torso, ball jointed hips, double-hinged knees, hinged and rocker ankles.
Overall, Elisa is an excellent figure and a great representation to the source material, and even though she is not solely based on the cartoon, as NECA is doing their own take on it, she works extremely well and fits in perfectly with the other Gargoyle’s figures. Make sure to get her now!
