NECA is offering the highly anticipated release of their Disney’s Gargoyles Ultimate David Xanatos Figure from the 1990’s classic Gargoyle’s animated series, which gives us modern sculpts of this memorable brand. David Xanatos is one of the primary antagonists in the series, and is responsible for bringing the castle to New York City, breaking the curse that caused the Gargoyle’s to turn to stone for thousands of years, and causing them to flee from their home into unfamiliar land. Xanatos is packaged in a window box with an opening flap, with artwork featuring her investing on the front, images of the figure on the sides and back. Also on the back is a description, and a look at additional figures in this line. The opening flap includes another image, and on the right is the window box showing the figure, along with her accessories all packaged in a plastic tray.
Xanatos comes in a light grey jacket made of a soft plastic, a dark grey shirt, black belt with a metallic silver belt buckle, black pants, and black dress shows with a gloss finish. This is the outfit you’ll remember him best in the cartoon, but the figure is not based on the animated series, it’s something that NECA has modernized a bit and the design works very well for the character.
The head sculpts include a closed mouth and open mouth showing the white teeth, and have the same facial details, gotee and brown sculpted hair.
Xanatos comes with interchangeable heads and three sets of interchangeable hands, Eye of Odin necklace, laser blaster with attachable blast effect, floppy disc, and folded wings for Demona.
The Eye of Odin necklace is painted in metallic gold and silver, and can fit in his hand. The chain can move around but doesn’t connect. The floppy disc is the 90’s version of a flash drive, and was used to store data that you can use for your computer. This is painted in a light grey, white and metallic silver.
The blaster is painted in several shades of blue, and can fit in his trigger finger hand and you can use the open grip left hand to hold it with both hands. The black effect plugs into the front of it.
Demon’s closed wings fit perfectly on her, and are placed over the torso and plugged into her back.
Xanatos’ articulation includes a double ball jointed neck, swivel-hinged shoulders, double-hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, swivel waist, ball jointed hips, swivel-hinged knees, hinged and rocker ankles, and hinged toes.
Overall, Xatatos is an excellent figure and a great representation of the character. He is an essential villain to the Gargoyle’s line and you’re definitely going to want to add him to your collection. Make sure to get him now!
