Marvel Secret Wars is a 12-issue story arch in Marvel Comics that was published in 1984 and 1985, and introduced some new characters including Spider-Man in his Symbiote suit. In this storyline, the cosmic entity known as The Beyonder has created “battleworld” where heroes and villains fight on a planet in a distant galaxy. Mattel is celebrating the 40th anniversary of this story arch with their Hot Wheels RacerVerse Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars Vehicles, which includes Symbiote Spider-Man, and Wolverine in his brown and yellow suit. This is offered as a blind box, and you won’t know what you got until you open the box. Most people will get Spider-Man as he is the more common Hot Wheels vehicle, and Wolverine will be harder to get.
This is priced at $20.00 and is currently in-stock at Mattel Creations.
Thank you to Mattel for sending along their San Diego Comic-Con 2024 Exclusive – Hot Wheels RacerVerse Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars Vehicles – Symbiote Suit Spider-Man for review.
Availability: San Diego Comic-Con – July 2024; Mattel Creations on July 25th at 9am PST.
Mattel’s Hot Wheels RacerVerse Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars Vehicles – Symbiote Suit Spider-Man is packaged in a blind box (that is packed in a brown mailer), with beautiful artwork on all sides, including the Secret Wars logo, and a description on the back. This box opens from the side, and you won’t know what you got until you open this box. Inside this box is Spider-Man, and he is packaged on a blister card that is resealable, and on the back are comic inspired panels and images.
The backdrop opens up and you see a comic cover with some new artwork that pays tribute to Secret Wars #1, and showcases the Racerverse characters, which also appeared in the comic series. The artwork looks great, and the other side has the Secret Wars logo on a blue backdrop.
Spider-Man includes a lenticular coin that pays tribute to the shield that came with the 80’s action figures, and when you move it, you see Peter Parker and Symbiote Spider-Man.
Symbiote Spider-Man himself comes in a Spider-Buggy vehicle, with Spider-Man sitting inside the drivers seat. The Spider-Buggy is in black and white, with the Symbiote Spider-Man logo on the roof, as well as Spider-Man chest and back. The wheels rotate, and are larger in the back, and smaller in the front.
Overall, Anything Secret Wars released is certainly a crowd pleaser and Mattel is certainly offering something nice for San Diego Comic-Con this year. Symbiote Spider-Man made his first appearance in this comic series, and this new Spider-Buggy is a fun offering that Hot Wheels fans are certainly going to enjoy. Hopefully, you’ll end up getting Wolverine if you buy multiples.
