Hasbro is offering their Ghostbusters Plasma Series Ecto-1 vehicle that is inspired from the 1984 film, and is 1:18th scaled. The Ecto-1 is compatible with their upcoming Ghostbusters (1984) Plasma Pack O-Ring 3.75″ Action Figure Four Pack that is coming next year, and features opening doors, rotating wheels and a opening trunk with a gurney that slides out and can hold the proton packs that come with the o-ring Ghostbusters figures. The Ecto-1 is packaged in a box with some beautiful artwork, including an action shot of it in New York City with the Ghostbusters Firehouse also shown, an image and the logo on top, and the other side has images of the Ecto-1 showcasing its features. Since this is plastic-less, the Ecto-1 comes in a brown box for safe keeping, and there is some assembly required for the details. There are no instructions, so you’re going to have to use the box as a reference for where the parts go.
Without the details put on, the Ecto-1 looks bare, and you see it looks more like a 1959 Cadillac Miller-Meteor Sentinel (abundance) if it wasn’t for the Ghostbusters logo’s on the doors and the red stripes on the sides.
Fully geared up, the Ecto-1 has all of the technology on the roof, along with antenna’s, a black ladder on the side, and blue tubes connected to the Echo-1 and a device on top.
Three doors open to place o-ring style figures inside, which will be compatible with the Ghostbusters figures coming next year. This includes both front door, the right passenger door, and the trunk. These doors are hinged, and can open all the way.
The interior details are amazing, and includes a steering wheel that does not rotate, seats that can fit two o-ring style figures (in the video I had specified three but that appears to be incorrect once I tried putting figures inside), two seats in the back, a gurnie that comes out, and more technology in the back that cannot be taken out.
The gurney folds up and can be placed inside the back, or taken out and the legs extended. This is where you’re going to store the proton packs that come with the o-ring style Ghostbusters figures.
Here is a comparison of the Ecto-1 with some o-ring style G.I. Joe that I had taken out of storage, released from Hasbro in 2001 and 2004. This is just to show you what o-ring style figures will look like next too and inside the Ecto-1, as the Ghostbusters figures are not yet released at the time of this review.
Fitting Duke and Roadblock in the front was easy, as they have enough leg and head room. The back seats however was more of a challenge, and I couldn’t get Tripwire, Duke, Roadblock or Big Brawler in there. The Ghostbusters o-ring style figures will fit inside, and I can only hope that they will fit inside the back seats.
Overall, Hasbro’s Ghostbusters (1984) Plasma Series Ecto-1 Vehicle is a great offering and something that fans will appreciate. It’s never been offered with opening doors in this scale (1:18), so this is surprisingly a first. This is a must have for collectors! Make sure to grab it today as well as those o-ring style Ghostbusters figures that is up for pre-order for $44.99.
