Hasbro have brought back two harder to find G.I. Joe Classified figures that sold out too quickly the first time around, and these are being offered on retro inspired blister card packaging from the 1980’s. The Cobra Eel and Snow Serpent are back, and these figures are also repainting to pay tribute to their 1980’s o-ring action figures. The Cobra Eel was first released by Hasbro in 1985, and is an expert at underwater missions, including expertly trained at marine structural engineering and marine geology. The Snow Serpent was first relased in 1985, and are Cobra’s weather environment specialists, and are formidable fighters in sub-zero temperatures. They are also a branch of the Cobra Eel, and have undergone the same training, and these characters are used for missions involving the Arctic and snow.
Thank you to BigBadToyStore for sending along Hasbro’s G.I. Joe Classified Series Retro Collection Cobra Eel and Snow Serpent Figures for review.

Both figures are packaged on blister cards that pay tribute to the 1980’s G.I. Joe blister cards, with beautifully done artwork on the front, with a bio that you can cut out on the back, and images of both characters, and Beach Head. Both the Cobra Eel and Snow Serpent come in plastic trays, and you need to cut the plastic around to take them out of the package.
The Cobra Eel reuses most of the sculpt from G.I. Joe’s Torpedo, including the torso, arms, hands, legs and feet. What is new is the head sculpt, harness over the torso, hips, and forearms, which gives you a better accurate figure. He comes in his grey, black and red diving suit, with red on his chest with a silver Cobra logo, a black belt and a grey belt about that. His head sculpt comes with a black mask that covers most of the face, with the exception of his eyes. There are also devices on his forearms, and a holster for his knife on his left leg.
His articulation includes a ball jointed head and neck, swivel-hinged shoulders, swivel biceps, double-hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, ab crunch, swivel waist, ball jointed hips, swivel thighs, double-hinged knees, swivel calves, hinged and rocker ankles.
Included with the Cobra Eel is a Diving mask and backpack, with tubes are also reused from Torpedo, a figure base, a pair of flippers that are also reused from Torpedo, a Harpoon gun that was the same one used for Torpedo, and a knife. The backpack is retooled from Torpedo.
Here is a look at the Cobra Eel holding his accessories, and how is looks fully loaded up in his scuba gear.
Comparing him to Torpedo, it’s hard to tell at first that the sculpt is mostly reuse due to the differences in paint applications and the newly tooled parts. The Cobra Eel’s mask has also been visually more appealing compared to Torpedo’s, at least to me anyway.
The Snow Serpent comes in his snow suit, which is painted in white, blue, black, and a red Cobra logo on the left bicep, and metallic silver belt buckles, an around the goggles. He is also given some shared parts with Snow Job, including the torso, arms, legs and boots. He comes with a new head, harness over the torso, plastic furry shoulders, forearms and hands, hips, and holsters for this pistols that have straps around his legs. The head sculpt includes a white helmet with a black mask, and there are also sculpted pouches throughout the sculpt.
His articulation includes a ball jointed head and neck, swivel-hinged and butterfly shoulders, swivel biceps, double-hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, ball jointed torso waist, ball jointed hips, swivel thighs, double-hinged knees, swivel calves, hinged and rocker ankles.
Included are goggles, a backpack, 2 pistols, a rifle, a pair of snowshoes that are the same as Snow Job’s, and a base.

Comparing him to Snow Job, it is also hard to tell at first that the sculpt is particularly reuse due to the new deco and parts. They have done a nice job trying to hide that.
Overall, the Cobra Eel and Snow Serpent are essential army builders for any G.I. Joe collection and you’re definitely going to want to buy multiples of each. The attention to detail, sculpts and accessories look great, and I for one have been enjoying this 6″ line.
