Krang is packaged in a window box that is standard for the Super Cyborg line, with some great art working including an image of him on the front, green bricks and logos. The sides include a look at his features and a breakdown of his accessories, as well as a bio. The back includes a look at the components inside the chest, and gives you a name of what everything is called.
Krang is inspired from the 1991 figure from Playmates Toys that was 11″ tall, but this new release has more accessories and features compared to that retro toy, and knocks the previous one of the park. More on that is coming. He features a removable chest place, which is also something that the 1991 figure did not have, and you see these components, including a spinning wheel with a hamster/rodent and other parts that are all sculpted and painted. The wheel is called the Power Converter, and the other parts are Heart Monitor, Megaphone, Piston Bellows, Technodrome Paneling, and Overdrive Control. He is primarily is flesh tone, but also painted in red, metallic silver, yellow and teal.
Krang’s Android Body articulation includes a swivel neck, swivel arms, swivel hands and swivel ankles. The brain also has swivel tentacles.
The head sculpt looks great, and he has the antenna on top that is also removable.
Here is a closer look at the comments. The wheel/Power Converter can turn and the hamster/rodent is sculpted to it.
Krang’s brain fits inside the torso, and there is a peg in the back for him to be plugged into, but I had too much trouble pressing him down into it. So for now, he’ll just bounce around the torso.
The 1991 Krang’s Android Body figure did not have interchangeable weapons, but the 1994 figure in the basic 5″ figure did. What has changed is that instead of a blaster, he comes with a mace on a real chainlink, which plugs into his wrists. He also includes a radio, and a claw that the 1994 figure had.
The mace is on a real chainlink, and the claw can open and close, and these and the radio can be swapped around and placed on either wrist.
Comparing Krang to the ReMastered Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles figures, he looks great and the scales work between the two companies as this new Krang is about the same height as the 1991 figure.
A few more comparisons include First Gokin Krang, and NECA Krang.
Overall, this new release is far superior than his 1991 predecessor as he has interchangeable weapons that you saw in the cartoon, but these did not come on the vintage toy. This is going to be a memorable figure as this is the Krang figure you’ve always wanted from the 1987 series, so make sure to grab him now before 2024 ends as something like this will surely sell out. You can grab him now at BigBadToyStore.
