Diamond Select Toys are continuing their Lord of the Rings Select line, which includes characters from The Fellowship of the Ring. Merry and Pippin join Frodo and Samwise and complete the primary Hobbit characters from the film, and are also the last two members of the Fellowship needed to complete the team.

Merry and Pippin are packaged in window boxes with artwork, logo’s and images. The figures are packaged in plastic tray along with their accessories.
Merry features the likeness of Actor Dominic Monaghan and comes in a dark green jacket and cloak, a yellow vest with an orange wash, a light grey undershirt, brown pants, a black belt with a metallic silver belt buckle. The fellowship green leaf pin is on the front of the cloak, and his feet are barefoot with hair on the top. The head sculpt includes brown hair and a sculpted face.
Pippin features the likeness of Actor Billy Boyd, and is given a similar sculpt to Merry but the torso, coat, arms and scarf are new. They do however use the same pants, feet, cloak and hands. Pippin comes in a beige shirt, blue, purple and red scarf, a dark blue jacket, brown pants with a metallic silver belt buckle. Pippin’s head sculpt is given brown hair, blue eyes and nicely done sculpted facial details.
Both figures have a dark green cloak that is given a sculpted texture.
Merry includes an alternate hand, Sword, Scabbard, Mug, Pipe, Spoon, Fork and 2 Pans. All except the pipe can fit in his hand, and the pipe I found best to place in-between his fingers as his hand was too big to hold it. The sword can be placed inside the scabbard and he can hold that in his wider grip hand.
Pippin includes an alternate hand, Firework,Sword, Scabbard, Mug and a Pipe. It’s the same deal regarding the pipe and sword, The firework is the most eye catching accessory as that is in a bright red and yellow.
Both of their articulation includes a ball jointed head, ball jointed torso, swivel-hinged shoulders, swivel-hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, ball jointed hips, swivel-hinged knees, hinged and rocker ankles.
Overall, Diamond Select Toys has come out with another great wave of Lord of the Rings figures to add to your collection, and both Merry and Pippin are much needed additions to the line. Make sure grab them now as these are selling out! The only tidbit about these figures are the head sculpts on the humans, hobbits and wizards, as they are sculpted as opposed to given the digital “photorealistic” treatment as other companies have been doing.
