Springer has jointed Hasbro’s Transformers: The Movie Studio Series ’86 line-up, and is a triple changer that can transform into a Cybertronian tank mode, Cybertronian helicopter mode and a robot mode. This release is also the most G1-accurate version of Springer we have ever gotten, as previous releases were not solely inspired from his cartoon appearance.
Thank you to BigBadToyStore for sending along Hasbro’s Transformers Studio Series 86-30 Leader Autobot Springer for review.

Springer is packaged in the standard window box packaging that is standard for this line, including nicely done artwork and images on all sides. On the back are images of Springer in both modes, including a look at the diorama that is included. The new tooling however gives him a much more accurate sculpt and colors to his animated appearance.
Springer is based on Transformers The Movie from the 1986 film and this is the most accurate figure from Generation One that Hasbro has put out. He is a retool of the War of Cybertron: Siege Springer figure, but the new tooling gives him a much more accurate animation appearance, especially the head sculpt and colors. He comes his green, dark grey, light grey, yellow, black colors, with the Autobot logo on his chest, and light blue eyes.
The cardboard diorama includes a nice backdrop of Cybertron, which you can use to display him. The instruction booklet is featured in the video above.
His right forearm has a hidden blaster, which was shown in the cartoon.
This larger sword can break apart to become the propellers for the helicopter, but the sword can be placed in either hand, or stored on his back.
Â
The hammer has an Autobot shape logo on the side, with a circular shape on the ends, and can also be stored on his back.
He can hold the torpedo, which is loose fitting in his hand. His hands can open to hold this accessory. This can also be stored on his back.
Springer also comes with a larger blaster, two smaller blasters, which can be attached together, but only the larger blaster can be placed on his back. He can also store up to there accessories on his back.
A breakdown of his articulation can be seen in the video above.
His tank mode looks great, and this is a Cybertronian vehicle. He can store the larger blaster or the sword on the roof.
His cybertronian helicopter also looks great and pays a tribute to the cartoon. The propeller can spin, which is also a sword as seen above.
The transformation can be a bit time consuming and also challenging, and the design, sculpt and colors all have a great homage to the cartoon.
Overall, Hasbro’s Transformers Studio Series ’86 line has been a dream come true for fans that want G1 accurate figures, and this line has not disappointed! Springer is no exception and this is the most accurate figure of this character ever released, so you’re definitely going to want to own him and other figures from this line!
