Mattel is offering a new wave of their Master of the Universe Masterverse New Eternia line, which includes Flying Fists He-Man, Fisto and Evil Lyn. Flying Fists He-Man was first released by Mattel in 1986 and featured a waist rotation that allowed this flying fist accessory to turn while swinging his arms.
Thank you to Mattel for sending along their Masters of the Universe Masterverse New Eternia Flying Fist He-Man for review.
Availability: November 2024
Flying Fists He-Man is packaged in a window box, with artwork of the character on the front, The Sorceress and Two-Bad, an image of He-Man in a portrait, and the back includes images of the figure, and a look at the rest of the wave.
Flying Fists He-Man comes in new armor and accessories for this release, which is inspired from the 1986 figure from Mattel and given some modern updates. He comes in metallic grey and gold armor, the He-Man symbol on his chest, red belt, black lion cloth and a cloth hanging down the front, gold and grey boots, and gold forearm guards. The chest armor includes the face of a lion, and the shoulder pads also includes the heads of a lion, which is something new not seen on He-Man before. The base of the body is reuse, but the armor is all new, and the head is from Faker.
Included are a set of closed fisted gold gloved hands.
The Flying Fist weapon can spin around, and has a handle and a clip for his arm. This can also be placed on his back on the red clip that has to be manually placed on the back. The shield can also spin, and fits on his open grip hand.
His articulation includes a ball jointed head and neck, ball-hinged shoulders, swivel biceps, double-hinged elbow, swivel-hinged wrists, swivel waist, ball jointed hips, swivel thighs, double hinged knees, swivel calves, hinged and rocker ankles.
Comparing Flying Fists He-Man with his MOTU Classics release, as you can see there are vast differences and similarities between the two figures, but the MOTU Classics figure has a better likeness to the 80’s figure as that was the point of Classics. This new release is more of a reimagining of classic releases such as this. Obviously, the MOTU Classics release is more appealing to fans, but this is the next best thing.
Overall, Flying Fists He-Man is an great figure that fans are sure to enjoy. There is some great attention to detail on the sculpt, especially the lion’s face and armor. The accessories is what makes this offering fun, with he spinning action that makes him look formidable.
