Hasbro is offering their Hasbro Transformers: Legacy United G1 Universe Autobot Gears and Legacy Legacy Evolution Insecticon Bombshell figures in this new era of updates to the 80’s classic characters. Gears is inspired from his animation appearance and transforms into a pickup. Insecticon Bombshell joins Shrapnel and Kickback, which make up this faction of Decepticons. Bombshell transforms into a irhinoceros beetle.
Thank you to BigBadToyStore for sending along Transformers: Legacy United G1 Universe Autobot Gears and Legacy Evolution Insecticon Bombshell Figures for review.
Availability: Bombshell – 2023; Gears – October 2024
Gears and Bombshell are packaged in the standard window box, which has no plastic and only cardboard. The artwork and logo’s are seen on all sides, and the back includes images of them in both modes.
Gears is inspired from the Transformers Generation One cartoon of the 1980’s and comes in show-accurate colors, including red, blue, light grey, and metallic silver. He has an Autobot logo on his chest and back, which is also on the vehicle mode. The chest can lift up to reveal inner machinery, which is a nice feature. The back of the head has an “M”, which pays homage to Mysterians, the toyline where Gears’ originally made his debut.
The blaster can be placed in either hand, or on the sides of his back.
His articulation includes a swivel neck, swivel-hinged shoulders, double hinged elbows, swivel wrists, swivel waist, swivel hinged hips, swivel thighs, and hinged knees.
The truck more includes the Autobot logo on the hood, and on the back. The blaster can also be stored on the side or roof.
Bombshell, along with Kickback and Shrapnel make up the Insecticons. Bombshell is is an extensive retool of Shrapnel (not shown as I don’t have the other two figures at the moment) and is also inspired from the classic 1980’s Transformers Generation One cartoon. He comes in his classic colors, including purple, black, grey, and metallic silver, with a Decepticon logo on his chest. He includes an impulse blaster, and insect legs that are removable to serve as hand-held blasters and both of them can be plugged into the sides of the impulse blaster. The insect legs can also be placed on the forearms so he can use them as additional blasters.
His articulation includes a swivel neck, swivel-hinged shoulders, swivel biceps, hinged elbows, swivel wrists, swivel waist, swivel hinged hips, swivel thighs, and hinged knees. The head-scoop has a swivel part at the top of the head, and above that is hinged.
He can transform into a rhinoceros beetle, with big yellow bug eyes, with a horn that is too short and the head-scoop is pointing forward. The jaw is also hinged and the blaster can be stored on his back. The two insect legs that are compatible for the blaster are placed as his back legs in this mode.
Overall, Hasbro’s Transformers: Legacy United G1 Universe Autobot Gears and Legacy Evolution Insecticon Bombshell Figures looks great and has an excellent character likeness and attention to detail that fans will love. It’s always great to be able to add a G1 character to the collection in this modern line in this format. These are definitely a Transformers figure that you should grab, so make sure to pick him up today at BigBadToyStore.
