Leatherneck joins Hasbro’s G.I. Joe Classified 6″ line-up, and is inspired from the vintage o-ring figure first released in 1986. This new 6″ release however is given some modern update including an updated vest, holsters for weapons, a removable hat and glasses, which is something that is new for him. Leatherneck is a Drill Sergeant and Infantry specializing in combat for G.I. Joe.

Leatherneck is packaged in a window box, with artwork logo’s and images.
Leatherneck is inspired from his 1986 figure and given some modern updates. This includes a loose fitting vest over the torso with additional sculpted pouches, but it keeps the two black grenades that are sculpted to it, and this time around the knife is removable from the holster. He also comes in an updated green and black army camouflage outfit, which is in darker tones than the vintage o-ring figure. The belt on his hips also has a holster for the pistol, and attaches to the non-removable radio, which are also connected to straps on his thighs. The boots are black, and he has insignia’s on his shoulders.
HIs head sculpt looks great and pays a great tribute to the vintage o-ring figure, but has a removable hat, and glasses that is a new concept for the character.
Included with Leatherneck is a rifle with a removable ammo clip. This fits best in one hand, as I had too much difficulty placing it in both, but it is possible to get it to fit in both.
Also included is the pistol and knife mentioned above, and two sets of interchangeable hands (closed fisted and open grip).
His articulation includes a ball jointed head and neck, swivel-hinged and butterfly shoulders, swivel biceps, double-hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, ab crunch, swivel waist, ball jointed hips, swivel thighs, double-hinged knees, swivel calves, hinged and rocker ankles.
Overall , Leatherneck is an excellent figure and a great offering to booster G.I. Joe ranks. The new deco, weapons and character likeness looks great and even thought he’s not solely based on his vintage ’86 counterpart, the new features are definitely a great update to the character.
