Four Horsemen Studios – Mythic Legions: Necronominus Figure Review

Four Horsemen Studios – Mythic Legions Necronominus Figure

The final member of the Dark Four (or Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse) has been released in the Mythic Legions line, which is part of the Mythic Legions: Necronominus wave. The other members of the Dark Four have already been released in recent years, and if you missed out, BigBadToyStore should have most of the offerings in-stock. The Dark Four are inspired from the Four Horsemen, and Necronominus is the horsemen of death, which should be obvious given he’s a skeleton as are his horse and henchman. Necronominus is also the most powerful of the Dark Four, and he can esurrect an army of the undead to follow him.

Thank you to BigBadToyStore for sending along the Four Horsemen Studios – Mythic Legions: Necronominus figure for review.

Necronominus is the final member of the Dark Four needed to complete the collection, and this horsemen represents death, and according to his bio he is the most powerful member of the four. He features a skeletal body, with that of a human skeleton and you can see all the life-like details given to this figure. The skeleton chest and head sculpt are some of the most detailed aspects about the skeletal structure, especially the eyes of the skull as those have metallic gold eye balls that glare at you.

The head sculpt has this metallic gold crown on the forehead, with a purple gem, gold armor on the sides of the head, and this long skeletal gold design on the back of the head that measures almost 4 inches long, and underneath it are grey feathers. This is an unusual design for sure, but as always the Four Horsemen Studios always seem to make anything work. He also has a gold bone collar around his neck and metallic silver on the back of it, and behind it are metallic silver and grey skeleton’s.

The belt includes metallic silver skeletons, gold details, including gold bones, a Skeletal  head with a green orb, and various other bones and details. The shoulders also have these gold ribbons coming down almost to the feet, with metallic silver, gold and purple gems at the shoulders, gold bones connected to a plastic brown rope. The shin guards are metallic silver with what appears to be an Eagle head sculpt at the knees, with feathers on the sides, and gold straps on the back. This could be a homage to Gothitropolis Ravens but that’s just an assumption. Underneath the belt is a purple fabric skirt that’s wired.

I reached out to the Four Horsemen for more information on the Bird on the shin guards. Here is what they had to say:

The bird motifs on Necronominus were meant as a reflection of Eathryon the golden eagle, which is the faction that opposes Necronominus.

Included are wings, two parts of the wings shown that connect to them, a scythe and a total of three sets of interchangeable hands (2 open grip, 1 neutral).

Necronominus is fully articulated, and includes a ball jointed head and neck, ball hinged shoulders, swivel-hinged elbows, swivel-hinged wrists, ball jointed torso, ball jointed hips, swivel-hinged knees, hinged and rocker ankles. The wings have two points of hinged-swivel.

Here is a look at the wings before the top part is attached, which includes the black fabric cape that is wired, and the red and black fabric decorative piece that’s also attached. The attach these two fabric parts, they need to go in-between the wings and the body.

Here are the two additional parts of the wings attached, with the front part of it facing forward. The Scythe can be held in one or two open grip hands, and is a wooden brown, with metallic silver on the handle, a metallic silver blade, and gold skeletons that serve as a decoration on this weapon. Behind the Scythe has a skeletal body that is holding staff, with the same back head piece that’s small compared to Necronominus.

Necronominus on his horse looks great, but you can’t get him to sit down all the way. The wings or fabric clothing won’t get in the way either of him sitting down, which is great.

Finally, here is a comparison of him with the other members of the Dark Four (Four Horsemen). He is the only member that’s skeletal, as he should be, and the four look incredible together!

Overall, Necronominus is an excellent figure with some great detail, sculpting and paint applications that the Four Horsemen Studios are known for. He fits in perfectly with the Dark Four offerings and this is something that you’re definitely going to want to add to your Mythic Legions collection, especially no matter how big or small it may be, these figures will stand out. Make sure to grab these while you can at BigBadToyStore now.

Necronominus also has minions that are in-stock, so grab them as well! Just look for any figure that says Necronominus.
