Mattel’s popular Turtles of Grayskull line continues to exceed fans expectations and this new wave is no exception. As I’m sure you aware this line crosses two of the biggest properties of the 1980’s, Masters of the Universe and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, with elements of both brands given to most figures. This wave includes Clamp Champ, new versions of Leonardo and Michelangelo, and Ninjor (Reptile Wars).

Leonardo and Michelangelo are packaged on a blister card with the Turtles of Grayskull artwork, and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Masters of the Universe logo’s on the bottom. On the back is more great artwork, logo’s, a description and a look at the rest of the wave. Included is a sheet of instructions showing what parts are removable and interchangeable with other Origins style figures, Blood of the Dragon mini-comic. A closer look of the inside of the mini-comic is shown in the video (embedded above).
Leonardo and Michelangelo are both given new parts and some reuse from existing Turtles figures. Both are given new chest armor that is removable, skirts, knee pads, shoulder pads and left forearm guard for Leonardo, . The bracelets are reuse from Raphael, as are other parts such as the head sculpt. Michelangelo uses the same chest armor given to him in his previous release, and repainted at the belt buckle.
Leonardo is given a sculpted turtle chest and both share the same shell, but the shell in the back is left green as it’s assumed you will be covering it with the shell. Leonardo has a dark green skin tone, with a blue bandana on his head, blue bicep bands, with blue ankle straps at his ankles. The chest harness has the letter L in light blue, with a dark blue around it. Michelangelo has a Snake Men head on his chest armor, along with an orange skirt with a blue jem, orange knee pads, and organ straps on the ankles.

Leonardo includes two swords, and a removable turtle shell.
Here is a comparison between the two other figures of him in this line. The armor, clothing and accessories are new, and tis version stands out with the dark blue armor and twin swords, which have a hook at the top.
Michelangelo includes 2 nunchucks, with a small connector piece that can connect them, and a removable turtle shell. The nunchucks have the power of Grayskull lightning effect, which is shown in this mini-comic. He can hold 1 nunchuck in both hands, 1 in each hand, or use the connector and he can hold them both.
Michelangelo stands out compared to his previous release with the armor, nunchuck accessories, and the absence of He-Man’s hair.
Overall, Leonardo and Michelangelo are excellent offering and Mattel’s Masters of the Universe x Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles – Turtles of Grayskull line brings the best of both of these iconic 80’s properties that generations have grown up knowing.
