Hasbro and Takara-Tomy are offering a new line of Transformers figures that are inspired from the Generation One cartoon, and this set recreates the iconic scenes of Optimus Prime and Jazz looking at the Teletraan I computer onboard the Autobot Ark. This line recreates iconic scenes from the series, and each set is episode based and have been been repaints of existing figures so far.

Takara-Tomy’s Transformers Dramatic Capture Series DCS-2 Autobot Headquarters Three-Pack is packaged in a black box with white text and logo’s, as seen before with some of their exclusive figure offerings. Inside, is a slip cover with great artwork of all three characters on the front, and the back includes images of the figures in both modes. Once removed, they come in a black box with Teletraan-1 on the front, and that box has a cover that lifts up and you see the figures inside a plastic tray, with the instructions behind it. A look at the instructions are featured in the video above.
 
Teletraan-1 is the computer onboard the Autobot Ark as seen in the Transformers Generation One cartoon of the 1980’s, and this offering is a repaint of the existing figure that came wit the Titan Class Autobot Ark figure in Transformers War for Cybertron: Kingdom released in 2021. This release has some new features, such as the screens, with the Autobot logo on the left, a different video of the Autobot Ark at the center, and a different screen on the right. This figure is cast mostly in yellow plastic in the front. The attention to detail of the computer looks great and fans finally have a good Teletraan-1 computer, which is something you never see. On the back he can store the Sky Spy satellite. It should be noted that in the cartoon the computer screens were blue, but Hasbro went ahead and gave them this detail, so this is not 100% accurate.
In robot mode, you can see the new deco, which pays tribute to the 1990 Action Master vintage toy release. He comes in metallic blue, red, orange and silver, with the Autobot logo on his chest. The light and dark grey are cast in those colors.
The head sculpt is nicely done and he comes in grey, blue and an orange hologram/visor.
 
Here is a comparison between the two releases of this figure. You’ll notice the vast differences in deco, as furthered explained in the video above. The accessories are fewer with this new release, as he is missing the golden discs. The Sky Spy satellite can be stored his chest as shown in the video. The golden discs can be stored in his back and are compatible with both figures, but this new release does not include them.

Optimus Prime is repainted in cartoon-accurate colors, including red, white, blue, metallic silver, yellow, light blue windshield, and black tires. The Autobot logo appears on his left shoulder, and he has light grey and short smoke stacks.
His head sculpt comes a light grey face plate, grey and blue helmet with blue eyes. Inside his chest is the Matrix of Leadership, which can be held in one hand, as I wasn’t able to connect it with both hands. He also includes a blaster cast in black.
Here is a comparison with his Earthrise release, and you can see the vast differences in deco. As this is cartoon-accurate, the upper legs are white and the lower legs are only blue and don’t have all the detail. The tires also look different as the hubcaps have changed.
The truck mode is impressive, and he has a light blue windshield, and comes in red, blue, metallic silver, black tires and a white Autobot logo. The blaster can be stored on his back, and the tires can rotate.
Jazz uses the same sculpt as the Studio Series ’86 release, and comes in mostly white and black, with metallic silver, red and blue deco and a red Autobot logo on the chest. Only the Autobot logo has changed on this release, which is now bigger than the previous offerings. Some of these new paint applications have been seen on the Generations Select 5-pack, but only the Autobot logo has changed with its size, and has silver around it rather than white.

The vehicle mode looks great and it basically the same as previously offered, with the exception of the Autobot logo. The blaster can be stored on the top of the hood, or on his back in robot mode.

Overall, this is an excellent set and a great selection of characters that are essential to any Transformers collection. Obviously, Mainframe is the key selling point of this set as it’s a character you never get. A G1 cartoon-accurate Optimus Prime is my second favorite in the set as that is also something new and essential. Make sure to grab it now at BigBadToyStore!
