Mattel is offering a new Skeletor variant in their Masters of the Universe Masterverse New Eternia line, which is his Terror Claws version that was first released in 1985. In the vintage line, Mattel started to make new versions of key characters just to keep these A-listers on the shelves and to introduce them in a new way, which is a very smart marketing tool. In 1985, Terror Claws Skeletor featured an action feature that allowed his arms to swing with or without the claws on, which was a fun play option. This modern 7″ figure however does not have that feature, as he’s been reimagined from his classic design to this modern one.
Availability: June 2025
Skeletor is packaged in a window box, with artwork of the character on the front and right side, and the back includes images of the figure, a description and a look at the rest of the wave, which includes Ninor and She-Ra.

Terror Claws Skeletor was originally offered in 1985 as a variant and to keep Skeletor on the toy shelves, and this new release is re-imagined and in 7″ scale as he is part of the New Eternia offerings. He includes some shared parts with other Masterverse figures, including the torso, arms, legs, hands, and given a newly tooled chest armor, belt and lion cloth, claws, tubes and boots unique to him. The arms are reuse from New Adventures Skeletor, and these have some metallic silver deco on the mechanical parts. The armor is painted in metallic purple, which is all shiny and there is also a skull on his chest with metallic dark grey with tubes sculpted to it in a dark grey. He has a light blue skin tone, metallic red belt with a dark grey lion cloth, blue boots and feet with black nails, metallic blue purple claws, metallic silver tubes connected to the claws and his back. His skeletal facial details remain but he given a pink visor with a metallic blue helmet.

The body of Skeletor is painted in the same shade of blue as we’ve seen with other Skeletor figures so far, a red belt and a black lion cloth, purple boots, and a purple hood that is a different shade than previously offered. The facial deco and attention to detail on both the head sculpts are nicely done and in yellow, with green on the sides, red eyes and black details. The jaw is also hinged, which is a nice touch.
His articulation includes a ball jointed head, hinged-swivel shoulders, swivel biceps, double hinge elbows, hinged-swivel wrists, ball jointed torso, swivel waist, ball jointed hips, swivel thighs, double hinged knees, swivel boots, hinged and rocker ankles.

The new armor on him is amazing detailed, with the skull on the chest, and the claws also have a face with red eyes, and metallic silver deco on top. This New Eternia offering of Skeletor does not include the Dragon skull weapon, and the back of him has tubes that connect rather than a holster for the Dragon skull weapon.

A comparison of Skeletor with some additional offerings, including his Masters of the Universe Classics release, which had the Dragon skull weapon.
Overall, Skeletor is an excellent figure that fans are sure to love. There is some great attention to detail on the sculpt, including the new armor, head and tubes that are a lot of fun. Make sure to grab this version now and this is eye appealing
