Both figure sets are packaged in the standard Toy Box blister card, with packaging artwork, an images on the side, and the back gives you look at additional offerings that are available now. These sets are #27 and $29 in the Star Wars Toy Box line. Each brand in the Toy Box line are given their own unique numbering (Ex: Marvel, Pixar, Disney, Star Wars).
shopDisney are expanding their Toy Box line to characters outside of the Disney Infinity game, as we’ve seen in recent years, this 2-pack is a great example of how well they look in this particular style.Both figures are repaints from each other, and pays tribute to how they looked in Star Wars: The Clone Wars, each with their own unique deco and appearance of the battalion they were part of. The 501st were part of Anakin Skywalker’s Clone Troopers, and the Shock Troopers were led by Clone Commander Fox, and then Thire by the end of the war. The 501st Trooper includes his blue markings, and the Shock Trooper includes his red markings, each with great attention to detail and crisp paint applications. Each figure also includes a blaster, including a blaster for the 501st Clone Trooper, and the 15A blaster rifle for the Shock Trooper.
The articulation includes a ball jointed head, ball hinged shoulders, swivel-hinged biceps, swivel-hinged wrists, swivel waist, ball jointed hips, swivel-hinged knees, and swivel-hinged ankles.
This set is based on their appearance in the Mandalorian, and includes a new Luke Skywalker, a reissue (repaint) of R2-D2, and everyone’s favorite character Grogu figure. Luke comes in a black and dark grey outfit, with a metallic silver belt buckle, and nicely done facial details. What should be noted is that he comes with a green lightsaber, as opposed to the blue one that he came with in 2018. It’s great to see the design team pay attention to that and also give fans another color for the lightsaber, as it’s been said that blue is started to become overused.
R2-D2 features great attention to detail and paint applications, including the blue and red, and the metallic chrome dome. His articulation is limited, including a swivel head, swivel hips, and swivel ankles. Luke’s articulation includes a ball jointed head, ball hinged shoulders, swivel-hinged biceps, swivel-hinged wrists, swivel waist, ball jointed hips, swivel-hinged knees, and swivel-hinged ankles.
Grogu is non-articulated and larger than the one that came in 2020 along with the Mandalorian. This figure is actually out of scale to how he looks next to Luke Skywalker compared to his height in the television series, but that’s just me being nitpicky and lets keep in mind this line is for kids, and the size of Grogu needs to be this way as younger kids might put this in their mouths, but then again they made a smaller Groot figure several years back in the Marvel Toy Box line, so I’m not sure what to think.
Grogu comes in his light tan outfit, with nicely done facial details, including his black eyes, and pointy ears.
Overall, the Star Wars Toy Box continues to offer some great characters and even updates to existing one’s offered in this line. Toy Box collectors will surely want to add these two sets to their collection, and what’s great about the Clone Troopers set is that you can army build away to your delight. Make sure to grab both sets and more while you can.
